I smiled, hit the blinker, and changed lanes. “We’ll see about that, Mister,” I answered. “If we’re still going strong in a couple of years, I’ll gladly be on your arm.”
“We will be, preciosa,” he said. “I’ll make you that promise right now.”
“Easy,” I said, feeling my body reacting to the man.
Jesus. This was my own damn fault, and I knew it. This is exactly what I got for waiting five years to even be open to trusting a man in my life again, and for very firmly believing that man would never be Titus.
“What are you doing right now?” he asked, his voice in that deep tone he used just before we couldn’t resist each other anymore.
“I already told you, we’re not having phone sex,” I warned him with humor in my voice.
“I don’t understand how this is an obstacle for you.”
“I don’t know if obstacle is the right word. I just truly cannot put a camera on me and get myself off like that. It could never happen.”
“Even while you’re watching me, mi amor?” he said with humor, yet the man was very fucking serious about it.
“That, I could do,” I said. “Jesus, don’t get these thoughts in my head.”
“Do you want me, preciosa?” he taunted.
“Yup,” I said, trying to push thoughts and ideas away.
“We’re going to do this, I promise you.”
“Are you about to go to bed?”
“Yes, but I was hoping you’d help me fall asleep easily. It’s not easy to sleep anymore without you in my arms.”
“Damn,” I said, pulling into the garage and parking the car.
“Did you just get home?” he asked.
“How do you know?”
“I heard the phone click off the car phone,” he said.
I could hear the smile in his voice before I was alerted to his FaceTime request.
I instantly answered, seeing Titus’s face and wishing so badly I was curled into his strong chest. His hair was wet, most likely from just getting out of the shower, his shirt off, and he lay reclined against an ornate headboard and pillows.
“You’re so fucking beautiful,” he breathed. “I would give anything to kiss your lips. I’ve been thinking about them all day.”
“I have missed you,” I said sincerely, staring into the phone with nothing but longing.
“You can have me, preciosa,” he arched an eyebrow at me. “Right now.”
“I’m not doing this in the car,” I laughed, completely terrified at the idea of this man wanting this.
“You don’t have to do anything,” he said. “I want you to watch me want and need you.”
That was the exact moment Amelia appeared at my car door, startling me so badly that I nearly launched myself into the passenger seat as if I’d just been caught doing something illegal.
Titus’s laughter drifted through the phone at my reaction.
“Have a wonderful evening,” he said. “I’ll be holding you in my dreams as I do every night that you’re not in my arms.”
“Good night, Titus,” I answered before opening the door.
