“Because Warren told me I had to.”
“You lied.”
“I was scared.”

“I was pregnant.”

China stared at me. I moved closer.
“You keep saying that like your pregnancy was supposed to matter more than my life.”
“You don’t understand.”
“Then make me understand.”
China wiped her cheeks.
“Everything happened so fast.”
“No, you had an affair slowly.”
“Milan.”
“You had plenty of time to take your clothes off.”
“Stop.”
“You had plenty of time to get pregnant.”
“Stop.”
“You had plenty of time to put mine on.”
“Stop!”
Her scream echoed through the suite.
I smiled. China was breathing hard.
“You want the truth?”
“I have wanted it for six years.”
“Fine.”
She walked away from the door, her wedding dress trailing behind her.
“I loved him.”
Those words should have hurt me, but they didn’t.
“I loved Malcolm before you knew I did,” she continued.
