“Gracefully.”

“Sure.”

He kicked the door shut behind us. I dropped my purse somewhere near the couch. Bone’s hands landed on me again.

This time when he kissed me, the laughter disappeared. Heat took its place.

I slid my arms around his neck as he pulled me closer, and there wasn’t a single thought in my head about what we were supposed to call this.

I didn’t need one.

Neither did he.

We were Hazel and Bone.

For now, that was enough.

I grabbed his hand and started backing toward the hallway.

His eyes dropped to our joined hands and then lifted to mine. “Where are we going?”

I smiled. “You know exactly where we’re going.”

That slow smirk spread across his face. “Lead the way.”

Chapter Twenty-Two

Bone

I knew the sound of my mother’s car.

That probably said something about how often she came down the road to the clubhouse, but I didn’t give a shit enough to figure out what.

I was standing behind the bar with Myth, going over the plan for meeting Eli Tuesday, when the familiar rumble of her engine worked its way through the open clubhouse windows.

Myth stopped talking.

I frowned.

“Expecting your mom?”

“No.”

“Maybe she’s bringing cookies.”

“Why the fuck would she bring cookies?”

He shrugged. “I don’t know. Moms do shit like that.”

“My mom isn’t your mom.”

“Pink likes me,” he shrugged.

“Pink tolerates you.”

“She likes me.”

I ignored him and walked toward the front windows.
