“Throw something?”
“Fuck no.”
“Then I’m confused about what you’re looking for here.”
He dragged a hand over his beard. “I don’t know.”
Something in his face made me believe him. Bone really didn’t know what the hell he was doing here.
I stepped closer. “You thought we’d have sex and that would be it.”
His eyes snapped to mine.
I smiled. “I’m right.”
He didn’t answer.
“Oh my God,” I laughed.
“Don’t.”
“You did.”
“I said don’t.”
“You thought you’d sleep with me and get me out of your system.”
His expression told me everything.
I started laughing.
“It’s not fucking funny.”
“It kind of is.”
“How?”
“Because you’re sitting on my porch.”
That shut him up.
I lifted my eyebrows. “Looks like your plan didn’t work.”
“No.”
The word came out low.
My laughter died.
There was no hesitation that time either.
“No?” I repeated.
His eyes dropped to my mouth. “No.”
I swallowed. “Mine didn’t either.”
“What was your plan?”
