“That’s not an answer.”

Kori shoved it into my hands. “It practically takes care of itself.”

I looked down at the little cactus. “Fine. But when this thing dies, I’m blaming both of you.”

“It won’t die,” Kori promised.

“You don’t know me well enough yet.”

Crystal laughed and headed toward the register. “You just need to water it once a week, and it will be fine. I think you can handle that.”

I was halfway through my second cup of coffee when Taco walked into the clubhouse carrying a fucking jar of jam.

Taco stopped three feet inside the door. “What?”

I leaned back in my chair at the table. “Nothing.”

He narrowed his eyes at me. “You’re looking at me weird.”

“Fuck you,” Taco snapped.

I looked at Rowdy. “Why is he sensitive about the jam?”

“I’m not,” Taco raised his voice.

“He got bullied at the farmers market.”

Taco spun around. “I did not get fucking bullied.”

“By three women.”

“I swear to God, Rowdy,” Taco growled.

“Pretty brutal too,” Rowdy continued.

I took another drink of coffee. It wasn’t even ten thirty in the morning, and somehow this was already my problem. “Who bullied you?”

“Nobody,” Taco replied.
