Her face turns up as a light rain begins to fall.
“Beck is here, too.” Dante has a smile on his face. “Beckcontrols storms.”
I know I should be afraid. Beings that control the elementsare witches, and the pack kills them. But the pack was wrong about so manythings. Beck and Cian are nothing but kind to me. I will not let old fears leadme.
“They know where we are?” I ask.
“So it seems,” Dante replies. “Meg, the tree or the rainwouldn’t happen to be able to give you an estimated time of arrival? And tellthem to bring my freaking bikes back. It’s a trudge to the Vampire plane, andI’ve been taking us in the opposite direction in order to fool the fuckers whotried to kill me. And they better have charged the batteries.”
Meg’s eyes open. She seems so vibrant with evidence of herhusbands’ love and care all around her. “Cian is coming. Beck has to deal withthings at the village, but Cian will find us. He should be here this afternoon. We’re to wait for him.”
Dante’s arms wrap around my waist, pulling me in front ofhim now. The danger has obviously passed. His hands slip over my hips. “Well,if we’re supposed to wait and we have a little time, I can think of a fewthings to do.”
He is constant in his affection. I let my hands drift overhis. If I run away, will he come for me? I watch Meg smile up at the raincaressing her and want so badly what she has. Her men did amazing things tofind her. Their love for each other is palpable.
Dante wants me. He wants me often, but what does it mean?Sven wanted me, too. The feeling obviously passed. Will Dante’s passion pass?
“And, Dante, Ci says he’s happy you and Kaja seem to bebonding.” Meg smiles at us. I revel in her approval.
Dante kisses my hair. “Not as much as I’d like, thanks toMeg’s insistence on running. But now I can relax because there’s a tree and arain cloud to guard her. Now I can get in some serious bonding time with myconsort. Tell Ci to hurry. I want to get home to my nice comfy bed and otherthings that make bonding time special. I hope I’m stocked up on double-Abatteries.”
Dante takes my hand and starts to lead me away. “And Meg, Iwould be careful with the tree. It looks like it has thorns. I would watch forthose branches. You might be better off playing in the rain, if you know what Imean.”
I take one last look at Meg, her smiling face turned upwardas gentle rain kisses her skin. If she hears Dante, she does not show it. Sheis lost in her husbands’ love.
I follow Dante. The grass beneath is soft on my bare feet, but my mind is in a different place. Meg is so loved.
It is easy to lose myself out here. The intimacy of thewoods makes Dante feel like the only person in the world. And I am the onlyfemale available to him. He is young and in his prime. He is male. I hear manythings about young males. They mate at every given opportunity.
Is that all I am to him? An opportunity to mate—to fuck? What does any of it mean? Does he feel even the smallest bit for me that I feelfor him?
Dante stops once we are completely surrounded by thicktrees. It is isolated, though we will be able to hear Meg if she needs us.Dante immediately pulls me into his arms. I feel the line of his erectionnudging me. “Alone at last.”
Will I be alone again once Dante’s passion is expended?
His lips press against mine, his tongue languidly invadingmy mouth. He kisses me, his hands pushing at the clothes I wear. “Baby, Ipromise I won’t let you out of bed for a week once we get home. I’m going tofuck you six ways from Sunday.”
My body is already responding to him. He taught me so muchin the days we have been together, but almost all of it is about how to receiveand give pleasure. I want more.
“What does it mean?”
Dante chuckles. His hands clutch at the globes of my ass, pulling me into the cradle of his thighs. “It means I’m going to be all overyou, consort. We’ll say a quick hello to the family. I’ll receive praise forfinding a gorgeous consort, and we’ll disappear for a week or two. I’ll havethe staff bring you food, and I’ll take my every meal from this lovely neck ofyours. Although, there is a nice vein that runs close to your pussy. Damn, Ineed to try that one. I’ll be able to smell it when you come. You always comewhen I feed.”
“That is not what I meant.” I push at his chest, trying toget his attention on something other than my breasts.
Dante stops as though he finally figures out that I amserious. “What the hell is going on?”
I bite at my bottom lip. “I do not understand what I mean toyou.”
His eyes roll, and a long-suffering sigh heaves from hischest. “Women. Kaja, do we have to do this now?”
I am not sure what “this” is. “When would we do this?”
His shoulders come up, bunching in frustration. “I don’tknow. If I had my way, we wouldn’t do it at all. Can’t we just have a goodtime?”
I think about Meg. She was not having a good time. When sherealized her husbands were with her, seeking her, she looked blissful. Shelooked transcendent. I would bet that Beck and Cian never told Meg that theirrelationship does not have to last forever. They never offered to buy her anice house when they were finished with her because they will never be finishedwith her.
“I do not think this will be a good time.” My heart isstarting to hurt.
