“Not looking like this.”

“Girl, quit tripping and just turn off the camera,” she demanded, reaching for my phone again. She pressed the answer button, and I was horrified but grateful the video wasn’t showing.

I cleared my throat a couple of times as his voice rang out in the room, deep, crisp, clear, and so sexy. It sent familiar chills down my spine as I remembered him guiding me through my pleasure that night. His words were like sweet caresses and warm massages over my body as he implored me to surrender to his touch and my feelings.

“Hello,” I greeted him back shyly.

“I didn’t expect to hear from you again. You were pretty clear about leaving that behind us. Not that I’m complaining. I’m glad you reached out.

“I know, and I don’t mean to be a bother or interrupt your life, but I really do need to talk to you, . . . in person.”

He chuckled and replied, “I’m not a brotha who’s easily scared, but I gotta admit, you got me lifting an eyebrow.”

I laughed. “I promise. It’s not the end of the world or anything. Just, . . . I don’t know what city you live in, but I’d like to link up and talk. I can fly to you if necessary.”

“I just relocated from Vermont to Georgia. In fact, I just finished my move last weekend. This weekend, I’ve got a lot going on, but uhm, I can fly to you next weekend. Where are you?”

“I uhm, . . . I’m in Georgia too.”

“Word? Where?”

“Cherokee Springs.”

“Get outta here! That’s where I relocated to.”

I glanced at Symone with wide eyes. She threw her hands over her mouth, widened her eyes, and jumped in the air as she threw a fist up, whisper hissing, “Yes!” repeatedly as my nurse walked in grinning.

“Micaiah, hold on a second,” I stated.

“Hi, Ms. Nicholson. I need to take your vitals and change out your fluids,” Nurse Etienne announced as she approached the side of the bed.

“Nurse, she didn’t want to bother you all, but she needs to be unhooked to use the restroom too,” Symone declared.

“Oh, that’s no problem. Honey, if you have any concerns, please call us. That’s what the call button is for, and that’s what we’re here for—to take care of you.”

The minute she removed one of the monitor’s cords that was attached to me, it went wild and beeped like crazy.

“What’s that, Myraj? Where are you? Are you okay?” Micaiah asked on the other end.

“Yeah, I’m fine, Micaiah.”

“I’m her bestie, Symone. She just got a little dehydrated and had to be hospitalized,” Symone spoke loudly.

I rolled my eyes at her and exhaled an angry sigh.

“Damn. Thanks, bestie. Myraj, I’m sorry about that. How long are they keeping you?” Micaiah asked.

“I’m supposed to be released either tomorrow or the day after. They just admitted me this morning.”

“Where?”

“Cherokee Springs University Medical Center.”

“Can I pull up?”

“I thought you said you had a lot going on this weekend.”

“I do. I have somewhere to be at six, but it’s only eleven. I thought I was going to have to fly somewhere to see you. Didn’t realize we were in the same city.”
