“The dark magic was strong. It knocked me and my family out for over twelve hours,” Puff told him.

“I’ve sent gold and jewels to your hoard. Can you split it between those that helped protect Silver and for Silver and Brook as an apology?”

“You didn’t need to do that,” Puff told him.

“I did, sire. If you require more, please let me know.”

“Then thank you, my Lord. I’ll make sure it’s distributed accordingly, and you don’t need to send any more.”

“Thank you. King Blake, I’m glad you’re here as well. I’ve heard of an email sent by the demon Barnabus.”

“We’ve heard, indeed; earlier a cousin of Puff’s was able to send us a copy,” Blake said.

“When you’re ready to go to war, let me know. My dragons and I are ready to fight with you both.” Lord Woodcott told them.

“Thank you. We’re still hoping we can stop this war before it starts,” Blake replied.

“From your lips to the gods’ ears. I’ll leave you now,” he bowed. “King Puff, King Blake.”

“Safe journey,” Puff said.

With a final nod, the dragon left.

CHAPTER 30

Wynter and his mates were standing by the holiday homes.

“It shouldn’t be this hard to hunt a shadow,” Wynter complained.

Tatum and Saxon laughed.

“It’s a shadow, my angel,” Saxon said. “We knew it would be hard.”

“I guess,” he grumped.

“Tell the truth, you’re only griping because rain clouds are rolling in,” Tatum teased.

“It was so nice and sunny earlier,” he pointed out. “There wasn’t a cloud in the sky.”

“Are you complaining, Wynter?” Maletayah asked, walking up to them.

“Yes, yes, I am.”

Maletayah laughed. “It’s certainly wet.”

“Maletayah, meet my djinn mate, Saxon, and my demon mate, Tatum,” he introduced.

Maletayah nodded to them both. “Welcome to the family.”

“Thanks,” replied both Tatum and Saxon.

Maletayah laughed. “How is shadow hunting going?”

“Badly, but we’ll keep trying,” Tatum replied. “Do you want to help?”

“Maybe later. I have training with Battle’s defence team in ten minutes.”

“Then go forth and kick arse,” Wynter said, with a wave of his hand.
