“Fucking let go,” he warned me.
I blew a cloud in his face, and he squirmed beneath me.
“You messed with the wrong woman.” I leaned forward and whispered the smoke in his ear.
Ezra clenched his teeth. I inhaled another and blew it near his nose.
“You have no idea what you just did. Absolutely, no idea. You’re so fucking done, woman. You’re so fucking done the moment I’m out of this.”
A shiver ran down my spine, and I liked his threats.
“You found my weakness,” I whispered. “Now, it’s only fair for me to expose yours.”
Ezra lashed out, “You don’t have a clue what my weakness is.”
Oh, he was angry. Good.
So was I.
“Well, we’re about to find out, aren’t we?”
“Oh, yes. You are,” he promised. His breathing was heavy and controlled, but his eyes were so dark.
For a moment, I questioned what I had done. Did I just unleash a shackled monster?
I was deep in my hesitation when Ezra bucked me off with his hips. Falling to the ground, I dropped the glass pipe, and it shattered.
One moment Ezra was leaning over the broken glass, slipped one in his fingers, and the next he released himself by cutting off the ties. My eyes widened as I crawled backward further from him.
Oh God.
Without waiting another moment, I scrambled to my knees—he was a shadow behind me. I could feel the ground shake with each step he took, and I couldn’t help the shriek that escaped from me.
He was coming after me.
What would he do if he found out the truth?
I ran through the halls, and suddenly I was in the main hall. A split second went by, and I made the decision to go left, leading me outdoors. It was dark except for the flames of the torches illuminating the building.
I sprinted into the trees, and I dared a glance over my shoulder, hoping I had lost him. I was fast, but not fast enough. His eyes locked on mine from the stairs I had just gone down.
My legs burned, but I pushed myself forward.
I wasn’t going to die today, not after getting this far.
The palm trees weren’t giving me much coverage, so I decided to go near the shrubs around the lake.
Suddenly, the world spun as my body was pushed forward. My knees and palms planted into the pillow of the sands. I twisted my body back, and Ezra was on top of me. I rammed my knee up, but I barely touched him.
Fuck, fuck, fuck.
I thrust an elbow at his face, but he caught my wrist midair and slammed it down on the sands along with my other wrist. He straddled my waist. I tried to wriggle myself out, but his body was too heavy.
“You fucked up,” Ezra growled.
I panted, unable to find my breath. I met his eyes, and they were nothing short of murderous, but I wasn’t afraid. His eyes pierced into me, and he shook his head slightly.
“You’re losing control, Ezra,” I said breathlessly. I pressed my hips against him, but he didn’t budge. “What will happen if you lose it completely?”
