The worry finally gives way to a smile.
Slow at first.
Then wide enough to make my heart skip.
“Oh, um, I mean. Unless this was a one and done for you,” I whisper, embarrassment filling me.
“Honey...”
He brushes another kiss across my forehead.
“This definitely is not a one and done. Don't think you're getting rid of me that easily.”

Okay.
So far I've claimed my mate with my bite in Bear form.
Then I claimed her body out in the open.
Both without explaining she's my fated mate.
Jesus Christ.
I am just batting a thousand here.
If there were an Olympic event for making catastrophic life decisions in the wrong order, I'd be standing on the podium with a gold medal around my neck.

Mate claimed.
Good.
We're fine.
“No,” I mutter under my breath. “We're absolutely not fine.”
We're standing on Clan land.
She has no idea what just happened.
No idea why I lost control.
No idea why every instinct inside me is screaming that she's mine.
And somehow...
She still looks at me like I'm the best part of her day.
The guilt sits heavy in my chest.
