Me
OMG, is she ok? What caused that?
Dahlia
They did an emergency chest scan and it turns out one of her lungs collapsed.
Me
So… what does that mean? How do they fix that?
Dahlia
It means she needs even more support now to breathe, both with her ventilator and medication to support her blood pressure, on top of everything else, and now she has a chest tube they placed to re-expand her lung.
Me:
What did the doctors say?
Dahlia
They said these complications can happen in cases like hers, and they’re doing everything they can.
Dahlia
But Tinsley… they’ve also said that even though they’re doing everything, it still might not be enough.
Me
We are NOT thinking like that, Dahlia. Fiona wouldn’t give up on us and we won’t give up on her. What can I do? Do you need a different medical team or another opinion? I’ll fly in whatever expert you need.
Dahlia
No, I think she’s getting the best care she can, it’s just a really big mess. She just seems to be getting worse and worse.
Dahlia
We need my sister, Tinsley. I can’t do this without her.
Me
I know. Keep me in the loop, please—or if you change your mind and want me to come back, let me know that too.
Dahlia
I will. Hopefully we will have good news to report soon.
CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
It’s been just over a week since the massive car crash that resulted in mild injuries to superstar Tinsley Sinclair and put Sinclair’s best friend megastar Fiona Skye in a coma and the ICU. The fatal crash also resulted in the death of her long-term boyfriend and musician Roman Cash. However, sources say Tinsley has not been alone and already has a very wealthy hand to hold as she recovers.
The Spill can exclusively report that country singer Tinsley Sinclair has been laying low in the small hometown of billionaire Jack Callahan. There are conflicting reports regarding the nature of their relationship, but sources say the two are definitely more than friends, and she is even staying in his penthouse—despite her brother owning a condo in the same building. Her brother seems to have signed off on their love affair, going as far as sending private specialists to Callahan’s residence to aid Tinsley in her recovery.
I shake my head as I finish reading the latest garbage from The Spill, closing the browser to make a call.
“This is Daphne Cromwell,” my attorney answers on the second ring.
“Daphne, it’s Jack. Have you seen this bullshit on The Spill today?” I fume. The article is everywhere, even getting picked up by some mainstream media outlets, as though it’s factual news. It’s not inaccurate in fact, but it’s making Tinsley look terrible.
