Just as she started to float down from the high, I lost it.
“Fuck,” I muttered, every muscle in my body jerking involuntarily. After several guttural grunts, I hung my head and allowed the sweet release.
Oh, my Lord, the pressure had been tremendous, my body still shaking but completely euphoric.
She clung to me, keeping her legs wrapped around mine. When my legs acted as if they were going to give way, I almost dropped her.
Laughter ensued all over again, the joy evident by how we reacted to each other.
Very slowly, we came down from the sweet high, both still gasping for air.
I pressed our foreheads together while we tried to catch our breath.
“Wow,” I groaned.
“Uh-huh.” She wiggled against me.
“Amazing.”
“That was… very bad. So sinful,” she managed.
“Stay tuned, baby. You have no idea what I have in store for you.”
“In the meantime, we both need to go back to work.” She managed to disengage herself from me, easing one leg down then the other. With gentle but firm pressure, she pushed me away, frowning as soon as she did. “You will be on your best behavior for the interview. Right?”
Shrugging on purpose, I anticipated a punch to my gut. “I’ll be just fine. How in the world did this come up?”
“Ugh,” she mumbled and stepped away before smoothing down her skirt. “I’m not one hundred percent certain other than one of the three hosts got himself into a mess. Some allegations of sexual misconduct. Which is why you need to be good.”
There went that finger again.
“At least you’ll be there to protect me.”
“Ha. As if you need any protection.” Her expression was strangely unreadable since I knew almost all the ones she offered.
“What’s wrong?”
“I don’t know. I’m glad Jesse and Kyle are interested in talking with you, but the timing is… just odd.”
“What are you worried about?”
As she ran her fingers through her hair, I couldn’t help myself, grabbing her hand and pulling her fingers to my lips. “What am I going to do with you? I don’t know. People in this business are just very cutthroat. They’ll do anything for ratings.”
“Does that include you?”
Her laugh created an extreme series of shudders. “You never know.” After rubbing her fingers around her lips, she headed toward the door, acting as if she was going to say something else but stopped herself. “I’ll meet you there?”
“Wouldn’t miss it, baby. Careful out there. There might be evil men lurking in the shadows.”
“Then I guess I’m very glad in have a wolf in my corner. Huh?”
With a heavy sigh, she opened the door, sticking her head out to ensure the coast was clear. When she slipped outside, closing the door behind her, another ache formed in my gut.
One I couldn’t explain.
And one that offered a sense of danger.
