The notion was as unusual as the fantasy we’d found ourselves in and perhaps I was overthinking what was about to happen.
In another moment where I was certain he was reading my mind, a slow but starkly seductive smile crossed his face.
There was complete silence other than the raging thump of my heart echoing in my ears. In those few powerful seconds, the silence stretched on too long, the anticipation unlike anything I’d ever felt.
And before I had a chance to change my mind, he fisted a handful of my hair with more purpose than before.
Then he kissed me.
CHAPTER 6
Sloane
Beck tasted like tequila and chaos, as reckless as the way he caught a puck, with his entire soul behind the moment. My body drifted into a sudden surrender while my mind attempted to process the ramifications.
Those were shoved aside the second he swept his tongue inside my mouth, tasting me as if he’d waited his entire life for such intimacy.
Every thought vanished, all sense of diplomacy and professionalism tossed aside. There was only what we were sharing, an undeniable connection electrified by a few hours of unbridled hunger.
With the taste infusing my senses, I slowly rolled my arm over his shoulder, pulling him even closer. There was a fire building between us, a shocking realization that there was no ability to shove aside what we’d felt since the first time we’d laid eyes on each other.
Where his lips had been soft and inviting before, his actions became rougher. His tongue dominated mine, one hand slowly rolling down my back until he cupped my bottom. As he lifted me off the floor, I wrapped one leg around his calf. I felt light as a feather in his arms, so much so I was pushed into a sweet abyss.
When he broke the kiss, he kept our faces close while running his thumb across my bottom lip. I clung to his shirt, twisting the material in both hands. I hadn’t noticed before, but his face held a shadow, the stubble brushing against my cheek as he whispered in my ear. “You can still back out.”
“And why would I do that?”
The slight deep, husky chuckle held more purpose than before. “Good. Besides, if you tried to run or push me away, I’d take you over my knee.”
What was it about his words that was so thrilling? And why was the implied act capable of making me blush? I’d never been one to feel embarrassment before, not from anyone, including the men who enjoyed trying to break my defenses.
Much like he’d done by remaining naked in the locker room.
He’d been an easy challenge to win before. Standing inside my hotel room with a sultry gaze, his eyes first penetrating mine then sweeping down my body was something else entirely.
As if the beast instead of the man was claiming me. Maybe all those pesky neon posters I’d read only hours before were causing my strange reaction.
Baby, I’ll be happy to handle your stick
How about a private hockey game, just the two of us?
Shifters are well hung
At this point, I was almost jealous.
I was also in an unusually playful mood, longing to test out his promise. Which was why I pushed him away, taking long strides backwards. “How did you get from the sidewalk to the top of the stairs?”
He studied me with great intensity before ripping off his shirt by the collar, his eyes sparking fire as he focused on my cleavage. Even though I’d seen him without his clothes and in all his masculine glory, because this was something entirely different that we were sharing, my breath was stripped away.
Every muscle was truly carved to perfection.
Before I knew what had happened, Beck had his fingers wrapped around my wrist, jerking me against his chest. That wasn’t enough, his fingers spearing my hair. This time, his hold was fully possessive and there was no way I could free myself.
“So you like to play games with the big, bad wolf, I see.”
“What if I do?”
“Then I’d warn you to be careful in attempting to charm a man with such intense needs.” Perhaps he was out to prove a point, pressing his groin into my stomach. There was no doubt what he had in mind, his hunger as explosive as mine if not more.
