My head falls back against the couch cushion as I fill him in on what went down. “…I think I’m still in shock.”
Remmy quirks an eyebrow. “You must be sick if you passed up that opportunity.”
“Nah.” I laugh, shaking my head. “It felt too much like cheating on you guys.”
I’m ninety percent joking.
“Okay, real talk.” His face gets serious, and he pushes out of his chair, coming over to sit next to me on the couch.
I don’t like the look on his face, and my stomach tightens.
“You know I love Theo, but I care about you too,” Remmy says, patting my leg over the blanket. “I want you to look out for yourself. You know what I mean? Don’t turn down opportunities if they pop up. That’s all I’m trying to say.”
My head bobs in a shaky nod.
I get it.
All those things I warned myself about before Theo left to come on tour are still true.
As much as it hurt, I put a lot of thought into if I should break up with him just because I wanted him to be able to enjoy himself. Then I considered staying together but not coming with them on tour.
“You changed our trajectory when you started writing for us,” Remmy says, drawing me out of my thoughts. “You deserve to see your dreams come true too.”
A part of me is afraid he’s right. If I don’t look out for myself, I’m not sure Theo will do it for me. At some point, I might get there, but I’m not there yet.
Theo is hot.
He’s a talented musician.
We enjoy the same foods and shows.
I love him.
Being with him makes me happy, but with our designations and his career in front of him, I’m just not sure that’s enough, and it really sucks.
Chapter Four
Malcolm
I’ve never stalked a woman, and I’m not starting now.
Probably.
Definitely.
Shit.
I already am.
We’ve been at this venue for three days, and I’ve heard her play twice now after the guys from Tangled Desires left.
I’m literally standing around, waiting for them to bounce so that I can get a few minutes alone with her.
Something is wrong with me.
Taking a break from sex has fucked with my head. Randy, our label-appointed babysitter, was a giant cockblock. Despite what everyone thinks, I knew better than to get into any trouble while we were under lockdown.
We’re free now, and I’ve still spent the last forty-eight hours obsessing about the one woman I can’t have.
