I kissed the top of his head anyway before heading out the door, where Taffy was already waiting in the driveway, taking pictures on her phone.

"Finally," she said as I climbed in. "Thought you were gonna make us miss the whole night."

"I had to make sure Cody was straight."

"Mmhmm."

We pulled up to the lounge a while later, and Taffy was already fussing before we even made it to the door.

"Twenty dollars? For what?" She dug through her purse, grumbling under her breath. "See, this is why you shouldn't have let things fall apart with Jokah. We could've walked in here free all night."

"Taffy."

"I'm just saying."

We paid our way in and headed straight for the bar once we got inside. I ordered us both something strong, and by the time the second-round hit, the music had already pulled us toward the dance floor.

We danced for a while, just the two of us, letting the bass take over, before some guy slid up behind me. His hands gripped my waist like he had every right to be there. I let him stay and made my ass clap on him. I was enjoying the attention more than I probably should have.

When the song ended, I pulled away and grabbed Taffy's arm. "I gotta pee."

"Girl, come on."

We headed toward the restroom, weaving through the crowd, when Taffy suddenly grabbed my arm. "Don't look now, but Jokah in here with a female."

I whipped my head around before I could stop myself, and there he was, posted up in VIP, with some bitch dancing all over him.

"That's why he’s been acting funny lately," I huffed. I got something for his ass."

We kept walking, and Taffy glanced over at me. "I'm surprised you ain't go over there."

"I will." I pushed through the restroom door. "But I gotta pee first."

We got in line for the restroom, and a group of girls a few spots ahead were huddled together, phones out, whispering loud enough for half the line to hear.

"I’m trying to be in his section."

"Girl, I heard he is single now."

"You see how fine he is though?"

"I would climb him like a tree."

I looked over at Taffy, unable to stop myself. "Hoes be so thirsty."

I was loud enough for the house to hear me.

"Excuse me?"

"You heard me," I replied.

"You got something to say?"

"I said what I said."

Taffy grabbed my arm before it could go any further. "Not tonight, Shania."

The girl rolled her eyes and turned back around. She said something to her friends that made them all laugh, but I had already stopped caring about them entirely. My mind was somewhere else now.
