“A’ight. I’ma let you have that.”
Jokah playfully slapped me on the ass, and I wasn’t mad about it. Then took my hand into his and walked toward the exit.
By the time we walked back to the car, the night had cooled down, and we were still talking, still laughing. He opened the passenger door for me, but before I got in, we ended up standing face to face.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothin'."
Before I could say another word, he closed the distance between us and kissed me. It was slow, passionate and even better than I imagined it would be. I kissed him back without hesitation, while my hand settled against his chest. Damn, this man was fine. He made my panties wet on contact. Sheesh!
When he finally pulled away, he looked into my eyes with pure seduction. "I wanted to do that all night."
He had me blushing and feeling bold. "You could've just asked."
"Nah." He brushed a strand of hair back from my face. "Some things are better earned."
We climbed back into the Wraith, and a few minutes down the road, he glanced over at me. "You hungry?"
"Starving, actually."
"Good. I got somewhere in mind."
I didn't ask where we were going. By now, I learned that whatever Jokah had planned usually beats anything I could've guessed anyway. About twenty minutes later, he pulled into a private dock, and my mouth actually fell open. Before getting out, he reached into the center console, grabbed his FN, and slid it into the back of his waistband without saying a word.
I looked at him with a side eye. "You bringing that with you?"
He glanced down before meeting my eyes. "I bring it everywhere."
"Why?"
He shrugged like it wasn't even worth explaining. "Because everybody don't like me as much as you do."
He grabbed my hand and led the way. A sleek silver yacht waited at the pier, glowing against the dark water like it had been expecting us.
"Jokah."
"What’s up baby?"
"This is a yacht."
"Observant." He grinned, holding his hand out to help me aboard. "It's not a big deal. Just you and me."
"Just you and me," I repeated, stepping onto the deck. "On a yacht." I looked up at him. "I hope you're not trying to throw me overboard."
He laughed and pulled me against him. "Why would I spend all week chasing you just to throw you in the water?" He shook his head. "That doesn’t even make sense."
"You never know."
"I know exactly what I'm trying to do."
"What's that?"
"Get you all to myself."
My heart skipped a beat. "And now that you got me?"
A grin spread across his face, as his eyes locked in on mine. "Now, I'ma make you forget all about going home."
