A few minutes later, she walked back into the bedroom wrapped in a towel and a bonnet securing her hair.
"You still laying there?" she asked.
"My sleep schedule fucked up."
"That's what you always say."
"Because it's true."
She walked over to the dresser and started getting dressed in a pair of black scrubs and pink Crocs. Her name badge sat on the dresser waiting on her. I watched her clip it onto her top.
"Kaior."
"Hmm?"
"You staying till seven today?"
She looked over at me while putting on lip gloss. "Maybe."
"Maybe?"
"If they need me."
"A’ight."
She turned around to face me. "Why?"
"Just asking,” I paused briefly, but making eye contact. “I was thinking maybe we could do something."
"On a Monday?"
"Yeah."
“You had me all weekend and we didn’t do anything?"
"I’m trying. I did have to work."
"And I appreciate you trying." She walked over and kissed me on the forehead. "Yes, we can go out tonight."
I grabbed her hand before she pulled away.
"You love me?"
She frowned.
"Where that come from?"
"I'm asking."
"You know I do." She smiled.
"You sure?"
Now she really looked at me.
"Kyrie, what’s wrong? What did you do?"
"I didn’t do anything?"
