Finn laughs so sweetly I almost cry for real. “I love you, too.”

Then he thrusts. Not once, not twice, and certainly not gently. Last time we did this he came nearly instantly, yet now he’s fucking me so expertly. Between my own cries and desperate moans I don’t even realize he has me seeing stars until a wet heat runs down my inner thigh.

Only when he notices that I’ve come does he follow suit, burying his cock in me like he’s trying to get me pregnant. “I did good, Duncan? D-Did I do good?”

“You did perfect, Finn.”

When he pulls out of me I feel empty, but then he flips me over and collapses down next to me. Snuggling with him is the best feeling. Just the two of us coming down from the highest high, all alone in the home we made together. It’s really more than I ever thought I’d have.

If you had told me I'd be having sex with someone like this, I would've laughed in your face. Fucking someone you're in love with is seriously mind-melting in the best possible way. I never saw myself having any of this, but that doesn’t make it bad. It’s not bad to be loved. Not at all.

Pulling Finn a little closer, I just sigh.

“What’s wrong?” He asks immediately, our sweaty bodies gluing together as though it isn’t freezing outside. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine. More than fine. H-Happy. I’m happy.”

Finn’s eyebrows raise to form the softest expression. Just like when we met, he’s all doe-eyed and smiley. If I wasn’t already in love with him, this would’ve been my last straw.

“I wanna work on the patio again today. I really, really want to use it. We could watch any movie you wanted.”

“That’s fine. Can you bring me the wheelchair? I want to practice with it a little. I’ve never used one.” Not sure why it feels embarrassing to admit that. Isn’t it a good thing?

Although he mumbles out a 'mm-hm,' Finn makes no effort to get up. “Mm-hm. Let’s just cuddle a bit, first. Then I should clean you up. Did you want to shower, or…?”

“I’m good,” I yawn. “Maybe a change of clothes?”

The mattress squeaks as Finn shoots up. “I have just the thing.”

Before I can ask what exactly that means, he’s shooting across the room to rip through the closet, only to pull out a blue sweater. I guess I should be grateful it wasn’t the lingerie from before, though.

“One of my favorite sweaters,” he explains while returning to his spot by my side. “Perfect for you.”

“I think you just like seeing me in your clothes.”

“I like seeing you without clothes more.”

Rolling my eyes, I take the sweater and do my best to ignore how hot my cheeks are. Finn kisses my forehead, brushing his thumb past my lower lip. For a moment we just gaze at each other, but his excitement gets the better of him and he kisses me again.

“I’m gonna throw my jacket on and then head outside, okay? I have something important to do today.” After one last kiss he pulls away, practically dragging himself to the doorway. “I love you, Dunk. I’ll do my best to get it done quickly, okay?”

“Finn?”

“Yeah?”

I can’t help but chuckle. “The wheelchair?”

FIFTY-ONE

Using a wheelchair is not easy. Growing up, I never broke any of my bones, so I’ve never used crutches let alone a chair like this. But I can't bring myself to blame Finn. What happened then is just… not now. It’s nothing like now.

It’s not as if I don’t know it was wrong. It’s easier not to think about it most of the time. What’s the point in letting something I can’t control fester in my mind? Finn is all I have, and he really is trying.

He does everything for me. I know his love is genuine, I know that. Does it mean I don’t wish things could be normal? No, of course not. I really wish we could be back at my place, cuddling with Chalupa on the couch.

But we can’t.

Regardless, I’ve got the hang of it—but it’s a lot more exhausting than I thought it would be. Wheeling over to the door, I snatch one of the big blue jackets with fur and put it on. My attention shifts to the back door, and although the snow outside is scary I won’t let it deter me from what I want to do.
