Eric nodded. “It didn’t work for me right away. It came back in bits and pieces.”

Well damn. He needed to do something. “Okay. We can’t just sit around and wait for me to remember when we have things to do, right? Let’s go figure out a curse.”

Eric smiled. “Sounds like a plan. You want to stick around for a while, Doc?”

“Yeah,” Ben said. “In case the necklace has me breaking out in tongues?”

Ian smiled. “I can stay for a bit. But remember I’m a doctor, not an exorcist.”

Ben was well aware of that. He would have to exorcise his own demons.

Tessa had gone into work that morning to help Katrina get ready for a trip to New York. Her boss traveling for the next couple of weeks meant Tessa would have some time to help the clan. She drove back to the clan house and found Megan in the kitchen with Bella and Lily. They were making ice cream sundaes.

Tessa put her hands on her hips and mock-glared at them. “You’re having an ice cream party without me?”

“Yes,” Megan said. “But you made it just in time.”

“How could you let your mommy have a party without me.” Tessa tickled Bella’s tummy, which got her to giggling. Lily giggled too. Megan and Tessa looked at each other. That was the second time she’d giggled. They needed to mention that to Ian the next time he was here.

“Where’s Evelyn?”

“She’s resting.”

Tessa didn’t blame her. She had been taking care of Lily for over a year now, worrying about who might be out there trying to get her and not knowing what happened to Mia.

“What else has been going on without me?” Tessa asked as she reached for a bowl and scooped some ice cream into it.

“Ben and Eric are in the office. They’re working.”

Tessa frowned. “I thought Ian said Ben needed to take it easy.”

“He did. He checked him this morning and said that he was doing better, so Ben and Eric took that to mean moving forward with getting his memory back.”

Tessa’s stomach dropped. “So he gave him the pendant to wear?”

“It helped Eric.”

Tessa tapped her fingers on the table. “Yes, but Eric hadn’t lost all of his memory. What if the pendant is too much for Ben?”

Megan nodded. “They already thought of that, so Ian is staying close by today to check on him.”

Tessa poured chocolate sauce onto her ice cream. “Okay.” But was it really? She knew she didn’t have a right to worry about him. He’d found his family, and once his memory returned, he would go back to being Adam, who had a clan and a multimillion-dollar company to run.

Megan gave her a long look before putting a small scoop of vanilla into the baby dish and handing Bella a spoon.

Tessa helped Lily build her sundae before adding candies, sprinkles, nuts, and then squirting her own bowl with whipped cream. They sat with the girls and enjoyed the treat. Bella ended up wearing more than she ate, which had them all giggling at her.

Megan wiped off Bella’s face and hands, and Tessa did the same for Lily, who had only managed a bit of chocolate on her chin. Tessa’s chest warmed. She would do anything for this little girl. Fight off dragons, Templars, witches. Anyone or anything that tried to hurt her.

Evelyn walked into the room and smiled. “Did you have a yummy snack while I was taking a nap?”

“Would you like something?” Megan asked.

“I’m good. Marilyn is feeding us so well, I’m not going to fit into my clothes soon. I was going to take Lily and read to her for a bit in the living room. Would you like me to watch Bella for you?”

“Even with the ice cream, I think she’s going to be ready for a nap soon. I’m going to settle her down.”

“I’ll go see Ben and Eric,” Tessa said. Check on them more like, but she wasn’t going to say that. Of course, Megan’s expression told her she already knew what Tessa was thinking.
