For the moment, she’s not fighting what’s between us.

I tangle a hand in her hair and wedge my other one in the slickness between us. “Ride me harder, Em.” A shiver racks her body, and heat floods my fingers. I don’t need to do anything. The friction on her clit when she slams down on me is enough. “Take everything and fucking explode.”

“Yes,” she hisses, her body tightening.

“Take it all because it’s yours.”

“Yes, yes, yes.” She goes taut and bows back, her mouth dropping open.

Finally, I can let my release flood out. Nothing between us. This night is what I’ve waited years for.

She trembles and shakes, but I clamp my arms around her as we ride out our climax. When she collapses on my chest, there’s never been anything more perfect. The two of us, in my bed, taking what we need and want from each other.

Aftershocks ripple through me, but I continue holding her. “I thought I was crazy.”

She pushes up, her hair draping over her face. “About what?”

“You.” I trail my fingers down her cheek. “As soon as I saw you, I became obsessed. You are so damn beautiful,” I murmur. “I questioned whether I had really put the idea of the trust in your dad’s head. I replayed every conversation.”

I feel her uncertainty more than I see it in the dark room. “If you didn’t, why did you agree?” She licks her lips and rolls off me.

I slip out of her, but I don’t let her go far.

I tuck her into the blankets beside me. It might be her curiosity about this conversation that’s keeping her here, but I’ll use it. “I didn’t want to trap you somewhere you’d be miserable, but I also wasn’t going to let him tie you to anyone else.”

“Do you think he would’ve?”

No. It’s just the flimsy excuse I keep hanging my morals on. “He didn’t have a lot of other people he was close to.”

“What about your brother?”

I pull back, a curl of jealousy going through my blood. I’ve never been jealous of my brothers. Only protective. “Would you have rather—”

She puts her fingers on my lips. “No, and no insult to Cruz, but he’s not my type.”

“I am?” Her answer is more important than I care to consider.

“You’re just enough of a corporate guy to be the opposite of everything I grew up with, yet hick enough to make me feel comfortable.”

She sounds so begrudging, I laugh. “It’s the coveralls? They do it for you?”

She turns to her side, her back to my front. “Seems like it doesn’t matter what you wear.”

Grinning, I clamp an arm around her and pull her tight into me. “Your double ponytails drive me a special kind of nuts.”

She laughs. “Is that what I need to do? Get a headshot with the ponytails?”

“Yes. Just for me. I’ll still take your regular headshot.”

She’s quiet for a few moments. “What was it about that picture? I can’t imagine a guy like you getting hung up on some photo.”

“A guy like me?”

“Lane, have you looked in a mirror?”

I chuckle, enjoying how she feels in my arms. Cuddling. “You think I’m hot?”

“Come on.” She flips around so she’s facing me. I keep my hold around her. “You were drowning in pussy. Admit it.”
