SANTIAGO

Nacio

Where are you?

You said you’d be home early.

Santi???

Still at work.

It’s my fucking birthday.

I told you I’d be home as soon as I can.

You’re job sucks.

Your**

idgaf.

Just quit and come home.

Sure. Then who’ll pay the bills?

You?

I got the weekend off, so we’ll hang. K?

I’ll make asado.

Whatever.

Don’t be a brat.

Fine. But it better be the best asado of your fucking life.

You bet.

Tucking the phone in the back pocket of my jeans, I looked up at the door. The smells coming from that damn cheeseburger made my mouth water, and I licked my lips, my stomach rumbling. I’d just spent three hours looking for a place to buy this burger, and to think that after all this trouble, I wouldn’t even get to taste it.

Pissed off, I fisted my hand and knocked on the door, then waited a few seconds before doing it again. Noticing there was also a doorbell, I rang it so the asshole would answer fast and I’d be able to get out of here. To think he refused to give me a day off only to make me run errands for him. That motherfucker. I should have spit in his burger. Wait, maybe I still could—

“What are you doing here?” he yapped in that annoying voice of his after opening the door.

Is this dude for real? What was I doing here? You sent me to buy you your goddamn food, asshole.

“The fuck you mean, what am I doing here? I got you your food, you dumb fuck,” I grunted while showing him the brown paper bag in case the smell wasn’t telling enough. And to think he thought I was the dumb one. “Wagyu double cheeseburger with truffle butter and a side of curly fries. I had to go to five different places to find this exact shit, you asshole,” I went on, while he couldn’t have looked bored enough. This fucker… he probably wouldn’t even eat it. Looking at his shredded abs, he sure didn’t seem like the type to down 2,000 calories in one meal. He just wanted to mess with me, per usual. Furious, I shoved the bag in his hands, doing my best not to look at his half-naked body, and turned around.

I wanted to get the hell away from him, but then he asked how I managed to get into his building, and the slight annoyance in his voice made me turn around.

“I waited until someone got out to sneak in,” I said, then peeked behind him into his apartment, satisfied when I saw he’d gotten a new couch.

“Changed your couch, huh?”

“Unfortunately, a dog pissed on it; therefore, I had no other option.”
