Hold on.

“Jordan?” I hissed his name as anger started to boil through my blood. I shoved off Jessie’s hand and looked away from him to break our connection, ignoring his hurt.

“Yeah, he suggested we talk.”

With heat creeping up my neck, I dug my fingernails into my palms and bit the inner side of my cheek. “Why the hell would he do that? Did you talk with him? About me? About us?”

“I did. Is that a problem?”

“Yes, Jessie. You talking about our problems with a guy we had a threesome with is a big fucking problem.”

He pointed at me. “So, you’re admitting we have problems.”

I gaped at him. “Are you for real?”

“One hundred percent. I knew there was a problem, and now that you admitted to it, we can solve it.”

How could he be so obtuse? “The only problem is you talking with Jordan about me. In fact, why the hell are you still hanging out with him?”

“We’re friends. Why are you getting so angry? He wanted to help.”

Rubbing my face with my palms, I tried to remain calm. “We don’t need his help in anything.”

Why doesn’t he get it?

Why do I need to spell it out for him?

“I’m not trying to make you upset, Babydoll. But you’re blocking me out.” He reached out to me, but I avoided the gesture by getting up.

“I need to use the restroom.” I threw my napkin on the table and left to find the bathroom in this idiotic restaurant.

I wanted to smoke, and then, I needed to be anywhere else but here.

Jessie

Leaning back in my chair, I let out a long sigh and moved a tired hand through my hair. “Fuck.”

I couldn’t help but voice my frustration. The whole point of this date was to communicate with Levi, but instead, I’d only pissed him off. And what the hell was this part about Jordy? Since when did Levi hate the idea of me hanging out with the guy? I mean, we both liked him as a friend, didn’t we?

He mentioned the threesome, but I’d already forgotten about it. It was cute and nothing more. If anything, I’d much rather keep my Babydoll to myself… unless Levi wanted to explore more. In that case, I’d do whatever he wanted.

I tried to replay our entire conversation from the beginning in order to read between the lines. As always, I was missing the point. Fuck, I hated that about myself. I always screwed up. The person who always helped me fix shit was Levi, but right now, he was pissed off.

“Excuse me?”

I looked to my side to find our waitress standing by the table. I didn’t even notice when she got there.

“Oh, sorry, did you say something?”

She moved her hand through her dark hair before pointing her thumb over her shoulder. “Someone’s waiting for you outside. They told me to call you and said that you’re friends.”

“Oh?” I tried to look past her to see if I could glimpse who she was talking about, but it was impossible to see anything from here. Looking at the bathroom door, I figured I had a minute or two before Levi returned, so I thanked the nice waitress and got up.

The restaurant’s parking lot was empty, which made me confused. Didn’t she say someone was looking for me?

I took another look before turning around, ready to go back inside when someone wrapped an arm around my shoulder and pulled me close until I was squeezed against them.

“Sup, little rat?”
