Be strong, Levi.

Don’t cry.

Don’t let Jessie see how weak you truly are.

Be strong for him, or he’ll leave you.

He’ll leave you the same way they all did.

I skipped school the day after Halloween and spent the weekend working. I disconnected myself from my friends by ignoring every message they sent and not bothering to check any updates on social media. BH could have gone down in flames over the weekend, and I wouldn’t have known.

But all good things come to an end, not that I considered working all weekend good, and now I was walking down the halls of BH on my way to biology class.

The lesson was as boring as I’d expected it to be, and I doodled in my notebook instead of taking actual notes. One thing I did notice was the empty chair a few rows ahead of me. Ever since the party at the beginning of the year, where Laura talked with me, I’d begun to notice her more. She was a nice girl, and we sometimes exchanged a few words at the end of the class. I wondered if she was sick but dismissed the passing thought as soon as the bell rang, telling me I was free.

Due to football season being over for our team, I had some free time and took more shifts than usual. The state championship slipped through our fingers when we lost a game we shouldn’t have. It sucked, but at least I got a couple of offers to keep playing in college. After all, that was my main goal this year. To earn a full scholarship to a good school and continue playing ball. Now that I’d achieved it, a weight had lifted off my shoulders.

Unfortunately, I was so busy with what went on with Shay-Lee, that I couldn’t enjoy that achievement. Mom and I had a small celebration on Saturday, but my mind kept wandering back to the blond angel who had crushed my heart without even trying.

Our football team losing sucked but compared to what went down at the party with Shay-Lee, and then Jess almost being raped, I was thrilled I didn’t have to play with the twins again. I couldn’t stand the sight of them now, so when I walked into the locker room, and saw them there, I nearly walked out. While football season was over, I still needed to work out and stay in shape.

I stepped into the packed room while trying to go unnoticed until I reached my locker. As I unpacked my stuff and started to change, I half listened to the conversation the twins were having with a few of the guys.

“We spent the fucking weekend in the police station because of that bitch,” Don grunted while his brother slapped his arm.

“Hey, you can’t really complain. We had an awesome time there, didn’t we? The cops were dope.”

Police station? Cops? What were they talking about? It couldn’t have been because of what they almost did to Jess, right? Jess clearly said not to involve the police, but perhaps he had changed his mind after I left their place that morning?

“She’s a fucking slut. Everyone knows it,” Kamper said, and I got caught up on one word.

She.

So, it wasn’t about Jess. Then who were they talking about?

“Fuck yeah, man. She’s a whore. But at least the stupid cunt learned her lesson and won’t mess with us again.” While they continued to laugh, I felt repulsed.

For so long, I’d been their friend. Now, I was ashamed of every moment I had spent with them. I knew our friendship was about to end, but after what happened at the Halloween party, that was the last fucking straw.

I could no longer share the same space with them, so I quickly tied my shoes and slipped out of the room. Deciding I’d rather do some cardio rather than be stuck in the gym, I walked out onto the field.

Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who decided he wanted some fresh air.

My eyes immediately focused on the guy running drills on the grass. He was the only one out there, and even if he weren’t, he’d be the only one I’d see. It was hard to remain unfazed by his appearance, and despite being mad at him, I couldn’t help but watch Shay-Lee as he worked out on his speed and throws.

I stood there for another minute before he noticed me, and once he did, a smile spread on his lips, and he threw the ball my way. I caught the perfect pass with little effort as he started to run toward me.

“Looking good, handsome,” he said as he stopped in front of me.

The sweat was dripping down his tan skin. All I wanted to do was lean forward and use my tongue to lick down the trail those drops left behind and continue south until I reached his cock. But I couldn’t. You’re mad. Remember that, Jordy?

“Seriously?” My voice was cold and laced with anger.

Shay-Lee pouted and moved his hand through his blond hair. “I screwed up, didn’t I?”

Was he being serious? He didn’t even remember?
