Jessie nodded. “He’s right.”

“Thanks, guys.”

There was something oddly beautiful about Jordan. It wasn’t just his physical appearance that made me think that, but his humility.

“I have an idea.” Jessie suddenly beamed, and that worried me.

Jessie

“Never Have I Ever? This is your idea?” My Babydoll grunted as all three of us sat on the carpet in our bedroom with a bottle of vodka between us.

“Yeah,” I said and reached toward the bottle. Opening it, I filled three shots and handed each one of them a glass. “We all had a shitty night, so what better way to cheer the mood than play a Never Have I Ever game?” I’d always thought that the best way to deal with a bad experience was to replace it with a good one, and what was better than a fun game?

“I’m not sure it’s smart,” Levi murmured.

“Why not?” He was about to say something when I stopped him. “And before you say anything, remember what I told you earlier.”

When I told him I was okay, I meant it. It may have seemed hard to believe, but how I processed life was different. What happened tonight terrified me, but nothing good would come if I dealt with it right now. When my mind was prepared to process it, I would be too. I never held things inside my gut, and I wasn’t about to start now. I was well aware that being sexually assaulted wasn’t something I should treat casually, and I wasn’t. Right now, we were here, safe, and about to make good memories with a fun game, so why not focus on that? I would speak with Erika, Levi, and even Chief when I was ready.

Understanding crossed Levi’s eyes before he glanced away and nodded. “B-but what about school? We need to wake up early, and it’s almost three in the morning.”

“It’s not like we haven’t pulled an all-nighter before.”

“Okay, then,” Levi said, and before I started the game, something occurred to me.

“Oh, shit. Jordy, do you even drink? I remember you said you don’t do drugs, so—”

Before I could even finish my question, Jordy raised his glass and took the shot. “Tonight, I do.” He cleared his throat and squeezed his eyes. “Fuck, that shit’s strong.”

“Of course it is,” Levi said proudly, pouring Jordy another shot. Fuck yes. They were into the game.

“So…” I pointed at the two of them. “If anyone needs a reminder of the game rules, let me be your guide. On your turn, you need to say something you never did before, and if one of you bitches did do it, drink up. Sexual experiences only, please.”

Levi nudged my shoulder, and I laughed.

“Fine, fine. But make it dirty.” I winked, and Jordy chuckled.

We were all getting rid of the tension, which was great; that was the point of the game.

“Fine, I’ll start,” Jordy announced, making himself comfortable on the carpet. “Never have I ever been in a relationship.”

“Playing dirty, huh?” I teased as I reached for my shot while Levi did the same.

He smirked “You said to keep it that way.”

“Never have I ever played football before.” My Babydoll was always one step ahead and was already filling Jordy’s glass with liquor.

“You’re a smartass, you know that?” Jordy pointed out while Levi put the bottle down.

“Been told that once or twice. Come on, drink up.”

With a smile, Jordan took the filled glass and emptied the shot. Once again, his face twisted with distaste at the strong drink.

“Okay, my turn.” I stopped to think about what to say when something popped into my mind. “Never have I ever had sex in school.”

“Jessie!” Levi shrieked.

“What?” I asked innocently.
