“Shay-Lee has some problem with his junior?” Don sneered.

“Eww. Is that what you call your dick, man? I feel sorry for you.” Shay-Lee smirked Don’s way. “Besides, my dick is anything but a junior.” This time, Shay-Lee looked my way and winked. The small gesture made my heart beat faster, and I fought back my urge to smile at his attention.

“Sure. Keep telling yourself that.” Don snorted while trying to keep up with his weightlifting.

“Oh, Don, buddy. I don’t need to remind myself that I have a big dick… I have your mom to do that for me whenever she sucks it.”

“You son of a bitch!” Don yelped while the rest of us laughed. He’d had it coming.

After that, the room calmed down, and the guys returned to their workouts. I waited a few more minutes before I stepped onto the treadmill next to the one Shay-Lee was on. I put on a leisurely pace and started jogging beside him.

“What is it that you want to ask me?” Shay-Lee spoke not even a minute after I started running.

“How do you know I had something to ask?”

Not looking away from his treadmill, Shay-Lee increased his pace. “Because you’ve wanted to for a week now. It’s about time you do.” He didn’t sound angry or impatient but amused. “Come on, Jordan. Ask me.”

So, ask me, Jordan. Ask me what I like.

His words struck me so hard that I tripped and almost fell off the treadmill. His laughter told me that his choice of words was anything but innocent, and once again, he played in a completely different league than me.

“I’m just messing with you, Jordy. So don’t fall and break something, okay?”

“You like that, don’t you?” I said between panting. “Messing with me.”

He finally looked at me, checking my mouth before moving to my eyes.

“It’s growing on me,” he said, licking his bottom lip.

Fuck, he’s sexy. And trying to tease him wasn’t a smart idea in a room full of our teammates, especially with Ty not being too far from us, scrolling down his phone.

“Do you want to grab a bite?” I asked.

“Let’s see how I’ll feel after six miles.”

It wasn’t a no, but it was not the answer I wanted either.

“C’mon, Jordy. You call that running?”

“Fuck you, Rogers,” I said and increased my pace. I wasn’t even supposed to run today. Coach would be pissed that I wasn’t sticking to my workout plan.

“Oh, you’d like that, wouldn’t you?” He gave me a crooked smile and went back to focus on his breathing as I went back to do the same.

Breathe, Jordan, breathe, and don’t think about fucking him.

“So, where are you taking me to eat?” Shay-Lee asked as we walked on the trail leading to the parking lot. “And don’t worry, I’ll pay.”

“You don’t need to,” I tried to argue.

“No way, man.”

I felt terrible about the whole me taking his money thing, but I was in no place to refuse help when offered. I would pay him back though. Despite him telling me it was unnecessary, I’d already decided to do it.

“There’s this Italian restaurant I like, it’s—”

“What’s going on there?” Shay-Lee asked, cutting me off.

I looked at where his eyes were focused and saw a Sting Gray Jeep Gladiator, with its back packed with what looked like camping gear. Around it stood Jess and Levi while Diesel and another man, who looked to be in his early thirties, were busy tying something to the roof. Three dogs sat inside the open bed of the truck.
