I huffed and folded my arms. “I never liked him.”

“That’s the first I’m hearing it. What about all those times we hung out? You hated him then, too?”

“I never said I hated him.” But I do. “I just don’t think you should hang out with him anymore. He’s one of them.” And we had sex with him. “And it’s dangerous.” And I’m jealous.

Shoving his hands in his pockets, he shrugged. “He’s lying in the hospital because he came to help us. I think visiting him is the least we can do to thank him.”

Here we go again. Me being utterly reasonable, while Jessie chose to side with that stupid Jordan.

“I’m going to study. You do whatever you want.”

Jordan

“White chocolate mocha with an extra shot of vanilla and caramel sauce, seriously?” Shay-Lee asked as I took a deep sip from my delicious coffee, scrunching his nose. “How do you not have diabetes?”

Shrugging, I took another sip and savored the flavor. “I like sweet.”

“It’s decaf, by the way, you can’t have caffeine with your concussion,” he said as I took another gulp.

I couldn’t really taste the difference. “Sure thing. What about you? What did you get?”

“Iced americano.” He shook his near-empty cup as the ice rattled against the plastic. “Tastes like shit, honestly. So not worth my money.” Despite his complaints, he stuck the straw between his lips and sipped, when it hit me.

Money.

I was on my way to pay Mike when I got the call and dropped everything to go and help Jess. The bag of money I had on me, the payment, I—

“Fuck, Jordy, are you okay?” Shay-Lee leaned toward me and took the cup from my hand before grabbing my shoulder. “Holy shit, you’re pale. I’m going to call a doctor.” He was about to move when I reached for his wrist and stopped him.

“Jordy?”

“The money, your money, I can’t remember where it is,” I said as panic flooded me, making my heart rate pick up. “I-I lost it, and I need to pay.” I was in the hospital for two days, meaning I was now two days behind with the payment.

“Get your ass back on the bed!” Shay-Lee snapped and tried to keep me down.

“I need to pay them.” I tried to resist him, but he won.

“Holy fuck, you’re strong,” he panted and fixed his clothes.

“I have some money in my hotel. I can use it, but—”

“Oh, shut the fuck up,” he grunted and sat back down on the edge of the bed. “Talking to me about the dimes you have… just give me that idiot’s address, and I’ll go and pay him.”

“No fucking way.” I shot at him.

“Jordy.”

“No. You’re not going to meet those guys. They’re dangerous. You aren’t risking yourself for me.”

Shay-Lee then leaned toward me, his hand gripping the back of my neck. “And yet you risked yourself for me. I’m not asking for your permission; I’m just telling you what I’m going to do. Now give me their address.”

My lips parted, and I wanted to speak, but before I could, he kissed me. A deep groan broke through my lips as he pushed his tongue in. Stricken by heat, I reached for his jaw and kept him in place to gain better access to his mouth. Hungrily, he climbed more on the bed and leaned in until he was almost lying on top of me, his hands already roaming underneath my hospital robe.

I nibbled on his bottom lip before I moved to kiss his jaw, neck, and back to his perfect mouth, all while listening to the deep sound of his moans.

“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” he groaned and pulled back. “You keep kissing me like this, and I’ll end up riding you.”

I reached for his waist and tried to pull him close. “I like that idea.”
