“What?” Shay-Lee sounded confused.
“The food. It’s hot,” Diesel said before he glanced my way. “You need anything else?”
“I’m good.” I nodded as I assured him I was okay. For now.
He passed the toothpick he was chewing on from one corner of his mouth to the other before he finally turned to go.
“Hey, waiter.”
Son of a bitch.
Diesel glanced over his shoulder at Shay-Lee, who just called him in the most obnoxious way possible by snapping his fingers at him, utterly entitled and completely reducing.
“Aren’t you gonna ask us if we want to order too?”
By the look on his face, Diesel was about to ask them for something else entirely, but he knew better than to do that with Jason, our asshole of a manager, standing by the bar and watching him.
“Sure.” He flicked the toothpick with his tongue. “What do you want, Sunshine?”
“I’ll have a soda.” Shay-Lee beamed. “But make sure it’s cold.”
“Sure thing. What about your pets? Do they need a bowl of water? Maybe some milk?”
“What did you say?” Don barked from beside me, one hand flat on the table.
“They’ll have the same as me,” Shay-Lee cut him off and waved his hand in the air as if he was telling Diesel he was free to go. Too tired for their shit, Diesel simply walked away.
“So, how’s your dad, Miley?” Shay-Lee asked as he grabbed a fry and popped it in his mouth.
“What’s the matter, Rogers? Got the hots for his dad?” Lin smirked.
“Can you blame him? He’s hot.” Don spread his legs and leaned backward, making himself comfortable on the small bench the three of us shared.
“Thought you said you aren’t gay, bruh.” Lin mocked his brother.
“Fuck off. His dad is pretty like a girl, so it doesn’t count. He’s like a super model or some shit.” Don tried to make sense, which was ridiculous. He was truly an idiot.
“As long as he got a dick, it counts, bruh.” Lin sneered before Shay-Lee pinned him with a look.
“Shut your mouth, idiots, and don’t talk shit about Elliot,” he scolded them, and they both laughed in unison.
“Told you he’s got a crush.” Lin beamed like a moron. Seriously, did they share a single brain cell or something?
“I just respect the guy. Unlike you, I’m not a cocksucking slut.” He turned to look at Miles. “No offense, of course.”
“For real now?” Miles asked sarcastically. “You can’t say something offensive and add ‘no offense’ after. It doesn’t make it right.”
“But I just did.” Shay-Lee grinned and tossed a fry at Miles, who dodged it laughing.
“You’re an idiot.”
“But you love me.”
I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. Did Miles not notice how fake he was? Shay-Lee wasn’t being subtle, but Miles was so dense and too busy eating his chicken to pay attention.
“So, Andrei, how are things going for you?” Shay-Lee asked with his poisonous look set my way.
“I’ve got no complaints.” As if I’m going to tell you shit.
