“Why didn’t Diesel join us?” I asked, not at all sorry, as we started to follow the rusty train tracks.

“He’s already there,” Jessie rasped as he tried to balance himself on the tracks and walk straight. “You’ll see.” He chuckled right before he lost balance and slumped to the ground.

While walking, the sun had set entirely, so we were surrounded by complete darkness. I was about to pull out my phone for a flashlight when I saw a red spot of light from afar. As we got closer, it turned out it was a car sunk in the sand lit from the inside with purple neon lights. It had no door or windows, so the light broke out of it and made it look like it was set on blue fire.

The more we walked, the more lit vehicles I spotted.

And so, a trail of broken cars, motorcycles, and boats lit with neon lights led us deeper into the unknown.

I was blown away by the show when I heard music from afar, and suddenly I noticed we weren’t alone anymore. Groups of other people walked in the same direction we did. Where did they come from? I had no clue.

The trail led us toward an old ice cream truck set on the top of the hill. By the time we reached it, loud electronic music had filled the air with strong beats that made my heart go faster.

And as we passed the truck, Fool’s Moon was revealed before me.

What used to be a junkyard was turned into a dance floor for hundreds of people. The old cars, turned into neon lighting fixtures, were pushed to the sides, creating a square space where the party was going on. At each corner of the created square were improvised stages with professional dancers. I could only assume they were professionals because there was no way an ordinary human could move like that.

“Oh, my—”

“God?” Andrei said, and I gave him a knowing look.

The jackass.

“Ready to get fucked up?” It was Jessie who spoke as he pulled something out of his pocket.

“What’s that?” I asked as all three of us rounded Jessie who held a small plastic bag with four colorful pills.

“Magic pills to make you euphoric as fuck, darling.” Jessie smirked as he presented me with one of the pills. It was pink, round, the size of a bean, and had a heart stamp.

“It’s ecstasy,” Andrei clarified as he grabbed Jessie’s baggie and forced me to look at him.

I wasn’t stupid, and even though I never did drugs before, I knew what ecstasy was. I’d seen Shay-Lee high on it enough times to know the effect.

I knew I shouldn’t do it considering my situation, but the thought of sharing a high with Andrei beat all reasons. I wanted to be reckless without thinking about the outcome. To be free and foolish like any other teenager my age.

“We don’t have to do it. We can have fun without it,” Andrei said, but my attention was on Levi and Jessie.

“Tongue out, Kotik,” Levi said as he moved his fingers over Jess’s lips. I watched as Jessie sucked on one of Levi’s fingers before he opened his mouth with a wide smile and stuck out his tongue. They were seriously hot, and I couldn’t take my eyes off them as Levi put two pills on Jessie’s tongue before pulling him closer and devouring his mouth.

“I want to,” I said as I finally peeled my eyes off them and looked at Andrei.

“Are you sure?” Instead of answering him, I reached for his hand and grabbed the baggie with the pills. I took the two left out and rolled them in my palm before offering one to Andrei.

“Come on.”

His mouth curved into a sexy half-smirk as he picked the blue pill out of the two and popped it in his mouth the same time I did. The drug was bitter as it went down my throat, but Andrei’s lips that came on me a moment later tasted like cherries and made me forget about the awful taste.

Five minutes later, we squeezed our way through the crowd and positioned ourselves in front of the main stage, where the DJ played some lit music. My eyes traveled to the dancers that danced close to the DJ. Their bodies moved with each beat like the sound and rhythm ran through their blood. It was insane how some people could move in such a way.

I focused on two of the dancers right before me who danced together. The girl had her blonde hair pulled into pigtails. She had orange goggles and wore a rainbow reflective outfit that looked more like lingerie. As she dropped down and started twerking, my eyes wandered toward the guy dancing behind her. While she was a good dancer, he was a lot better. He did a spin that ended with a sexy wave right behind the girl, and he started to move their hips together, controlling her completely but still following the beat. While he wore a pair of pink neon cargo with pockets and black patches, he skipped the shirt, and my eyes roamed over his tanned skin painted with dark ink like a map. His sweat-covered muscles bounced with each kick and spin, and I understood why they had dancers up there to make everyone hot. My eyes traveled higher on the sexy dancer’s body to his pretty lips and cute button nose, which made Diesel’s face look so much more gentle.

Hold. The. Fuck. On.

Diesel?

I almost swallowed a fly with how wide I opened my mouth. Did the drug already kick in? Was I seeing things?

I rubbed my eyes and looked over at the stage again. Yep. I wasn’t tripping. That was one hundred percent Diesel, dancing like a sex god in front of hundreds of people in the middle of a desert rave.
