I sighed quietly while letting his words sink in as images of Miles filled my mind. I knew I’d never forget my first sight of him.

“Ma meilleure moitié…” That I understood. My better half.

Their love was so deep and pure. It was the first time I’d seen a couple so in love up close. As sad as it was to admit, all the relationships I came across in my life were bruised and broken. Even Jess and Levi, who were meant for each other, had their problems. But Elliot and Daniel? They made me hope and believe such love was possible, but mostly, they made me question myself. More likely, their love made me face my growing feelings for their son.

“Now I want you to take your pants off and fuck me so hard I won’t be able to walk for a week.”

Oh, hell no! I quickly returned to reality as Elliot demanded what he just did and climbed the stairs as fast as possible. Maybe they heard me, and maybe they didn’t. I guessed we would never know.

With the door closed behind me, I placed the water bottles on the dresser before climbing back into bed. Miles tangled his long limbs around me as soon as my body hit the mattress. With his warmness pressed against me, I felt at ease. I felt love.

Chapter 18

Miles

The switch from Paris, the most glamorous place in the world, to high school PE was unnecessarily painful. Especially since today was a compound exercise. Sure, I was a professional show-jumper, meaning I was basically a jock. But push-ups? Sit-ups? My arms turned to jelly, not to mention those hideous gym clothes they forced us into gave me a rash. With the amount of money we paid to this school, it could more than afford stylish sportswear. Yet, here we were, dressed in black shorts that were probably designed in the ’80s and poorly tailored shirts that had seen better days.

The only good thing about PE was that Andrei had it at the same time as me. We may be in different classes, but I got to see him more often than not. Like now, for example. His class was playing volleyball on the court beside us, and the way his gym shorts cupped his ass made me reconsider my hatred for the outfit.

“Are you counting?” Shay-Lee asked between panting breaths. Unlike me, he was in the middle of his seventy-two—or was it eighty-two?—sit-ups. My job was to anchor his legs to the ground. At least it got me off the exercise.

“Yeah, yeah,” I mumbled with my eyes still on Andrei. My best friend’s enthusiasm for sports was annoying. Whoever claimed to enjoy sports was so full of shit. Again, I am a pro-athlete.

“C’mon, Miley, we’ve only got a hundred left to go.”

I snapped my head back to him and twisted my brows in horror.

“A hundred?” I let go of his legs and slumped back on my ass. I was too tired for this shit. “The hell, Shay-Lee? You already did like a thousand.”

He reached for my arms and placed them on his feet again, forcing me to anchor him as he started another set. “It’s not like you’re the one doing them,” he joked between sit-ups.

“Yeah, but watching you is just as tiring.” I yawned my answer before my eyes traveled to find Andrei again. “Besides, can’t you team up with one of the twins or Ty, even Jordan? Practically any other testosterone freak like yourself?”

“Ha-ha.” He laughed sarcastically. “You’re a whiny little bitch. You know that, right?”

“Little?” I peered back at him. “I’m taller than you, so drop the little.”

He stopped mid-set, and pinned me with a look. “Only by an inch.”

I decided I wanted to play with him, so I leaned closer, a teasing grin on my face. “You should know an inch is a lot.”

His eyebrows rose before he pushed my chest. “Fuck off, you dipshit.” He smirked as he resumed his workout. “As if your virgin ass would know a thing about it.”

“Not so virgin anymore,” I muttered under my breath, not that it mattered but still. How could I ignore one of the best moments of my life? I wouldn’t go and declare it for the whole world to hear, but I could joke about it. I mean, I told Papa, but I told him everything, so that didn’t count. And if he knew, I could only assume Dad also knew. They were both super cool when it came to sex, so it didn’t bother me. It probably had to do with them always having it, that they were so chill toward the matter.

I wasn’t one of those sexually awkward teenagers who were grossed out by the idea of their parents being sexually active. Sure, I’d rather not get into details, as I kept saying to Papa, but I wasn’t in denial about them having sex. They did. Way too much if you asked me.

“What?” I asked, only now noticing Shay-Lee had heard me and paused his workout. His brows drew together, and a line appeared between them.

I smiled and waited for him to relax, but the tension on his face only increased.

“What do you mean?”

“You know what I mean,” I spat awkwardly. As he continued to stare while saying nothing, I leaned back and sighed deeply. “I’m no longer a virgin.” I hoped this would be enough for him and that he’d drop the subject, especially with us being surrounded by other students, but of course he didn’t.

“With whom?” he growled.

“What do you mean with whom?” I frowned at him. He was acting weird as fuck. “My boyfriend, who else?”
