Chapter Eight
KOLE
Kole never envisionedclaiming his princess on the uneven earth packed with rough stones. Warm air circulated within the small chamber, but thanks to Luna’s help, the fire cooking his skin had reduced to a simmer. He smiled to himself. His female had used her powers to heal him. Looking at Luna, as she stood pensive, waiting for him, he could not help but admire her strength, compassion, and beauty.
He had no finery or feast to woo her, just their tattered outer coverings, yet she offered herself to him without care to her comfort. He would do what he could to shield his embarrassment, for he could not resist his urge to claim her—here and now. A better male would wait to see his female adorned in spun fabric and precious stones before a royal court of celebration. But Kole was too ravenous to be inside his mate. Even now, the head of his cock wept with his seed.
Staring into the shallow bowl in the earth filled crystal water, he frowned at their surroundings. He resisted the urge to scowl, the disappointment that he couldn’t shower Luna with the precious gifts she rightly deserved. After all, she was a treasure, no, his treasure. By choosing him, the Princess would bear the wrath of earth elementals. Those who were prejudice against his kind and who would not approve of their love. Kole would spend every day of every season proving that she had made the right decision in mating with him. But, as for now, he would assure his new mate that he was a male worthy of a huntress.
“I have great wealth stored up to provide for you and our future offspring.”
Luna moved to him, placing both hands on either side of his face. He bent forward, until his gaze settled on her eyes. Her skin seemed to brighten as he looked on, but he dared not to shield his sight. To peer upon the moon in its beauty was for all, but for Kole, he felt as if he held its brilliant beam because he could touch his Luna.
“It matters not the place, Kole. You...” She rested her forehead on his, sighing. “Sharing myself with a male of my choosing is most important. Over land, or sea, you are where I want to be.”
Inside his chest, Kole’s heart thundered. Every word Luna spoke fell as love-spun poetry for his listening ear. Great Poseidon, after years alone, did she realize the song she had awoken in his heart? Kole loved this elemental of a foreign land more than his own life.
“The temperature? It’s to your liking, female?”
Why was he nervous all of a sudden? Because he didn’t want Luna to ever be disappointed with his efforts. Because his fantasy of having this female, one capable of chartering her own path, courageous enough to accept the claim of a second son, would be visible to all sectors after this night. All of it was true.
“It’s perfect,” she assured, brushing his hair away from his forehead. To be touched with such care, it thrilled him. Many of the Kelvinian females consciously avoided warriors for fear of ice burn. With Luna, he could free his powers without worry of harm to his female. And if the goddess saw fit, he could have a family.
“Stand back,” he whispered, kissing her fine-boned wrist before releasing her. “I’ll need some space.”
“For what?” she asked, obvious excitement in her voice.
Kole had never used his powers for what he was about to attempt, but he would move the heavens and all of new earth for his precious moonlight princess. Boots removed, Kole grasped the string securing his leathers. He wondered at the thoughts pouring through Luna’s mind as he worked the coverings off his corded thighs. The female’s face was so expressive—eyes widened the more skin he revealed, and her petite nostrils flared. He couldn’t force his gaze from her.
“You torture me with your unhurried pace, warrior.”
When she fisted her hands at her sides, as if she ached to hold him, his cock bobbed in invitation.
“Trust that I am anxious to feel your skin melting into mine, Luna.”
She curved her lips in a saucy smile. “Same, warrior,” she said, reaching for him.
Kole took a step backwards, entering the shallow pool. “Anxious for the bedding, princess?”
Would she shy away from the crackling passion alight in her watchful gaze? He sensed her innocence, but beneath that, he heard the breathless hitch of yearning in her voice. When they parted, he felt the intense current of sensuality locked away in his female like an invisible cord pulling them back together. Luna did not disappoint in her response.
