"I'm into it just as hard." I put my hands on his face, his beard both soft and coarse in my palms. "I'm jumping off this cliff with you. If we've felt this much for so long, trying like this is the only thing that makes sense."
"Even if we have to do it in a random empty office? No one should ever have to make you feel hidden. Least of all me."
"It'll be for just a little bit longer. Only until we have a plan together, and we feel more solid. Until we know we can withstand things together."
He nodded. "I adore you, Vi. I hope you know that."
"I adore you, too." I teased him with a playful smile. "And now I know how you taste."
He smirked, bright humor in his eyes. "And I know how you sound. How your knees weaken."
"You carry my lipstick on your chest. And on your dick, mister."
"Medals of honor, for all I care."
I was in bed reading a book before sleep when I got his text.
Jake: I still have your lipstick tube.
Vi: did you scrub the marks off?
Jake: not until the morning with my shower.
Vi: we need to figure out a way to have a weekend together. I need more. I need you
Jake: I'll make it happen. Should I ask Stephanie or…?
Vi: lol. Don't. Give me some dates and I'll tell her. I'll pretend I'm going out with friends. Maybe Olivia. Just make sure it's not the weekend before the party because I have a luncheon that Sunday
Jake: a luncheon? With the other ladies at the golf club?
Vi: shut up. It's a mentorship thing. They invited me to do a talk for femme and non binary folk starting undergrad degrees. It'll make me even busier that weekend with some of the peoplearriving from Chile that Saturday, but I didn't want to say no.
Jake: I take my words back. That's actually cool. Can I go?
Vi: I would love that. It's a public event. You can hide among five hundred young people. Well, maybe you could, if you hunch and wear a wig
Jake: haha. I don't plan to wear a disguise. Do you still want me there?
Vi: Absolutely. I don't think anyone else we know will be there. It could be a nice outing for us. Maybe I'll let you tussle me up somewhere, after the speech, too
Jake: I'll tussle you up all you like. I'll be there. I'll also plan a weekend away together, as soon as possible. Still almost two months until the party, and I can't wait that long
Vi: Can't wait
Chapter 20
Jake
I wasted no timebooking a place for Vi and I. A week and a half after our office escapade, I drove us three hours to a location I had found online. We chatted and laughed on the road and, for a third of it, we had listened to her audiobook. Just like I had imagined, I had enjoyed the story well enough. If nothing else, it taught me more of what Vi herself enjoyed, and I wanted to learn as much as I could about that.
No smutty scenes this time, but that was okay. I had plans in that regard for later that day.
I drove into the small town with an excited smile on my face.
"Where did you bring me, Jake?"
"To a quaint little town in the middle of nowhere. I looked for a place that had a vibe like Laguna Island. I liked it when wewent to visit Max there but, since we can't go there as a couple, I thought something similar might work."
