I tilted my head to give him access to my neck. "I'm used to that question coming into play a little bit later into things."
"We've known each other for almost a quarter-century." He kissed my clavicles. "I think we would know already if that's something we wanted with each other, don't you?"
He stole several more kisses, but I remained quiet, and soon it froze him with his lips on my skin.
He found my gaze. "Don't you?"
I bit my lip. "I just feel weird that we might want to start using the title, when we're not ready to let people know we're together."
"Oh." He frowned. "I see. I guess it's good I didn't ask anything, huh?"
"No, I asked, and ruined the moment in the same breath."
His face smoothed, and a small smile took over his lips. "You didn't, Vi. I'm glad to know how you feel."
"I just came in to give you a few surprise kisses. See if I could torment you enough to get your hands all over me."
He looked appropriately tormented for a second, and groaned when he checked his watch. "I have a meeting in a few minutes, but text me a couple of options for a fun little rendezvous somewhere later."
"You'd find an empty office to have a little fun in?"
"Every day, yes."
My next kiss happened through a smile.
I got off his lap, reached for my purse, and sought my lipstick in it.
"What are you doing?" he asked.
I applied it, and put the cap back on while I gazed at him with an arched eyebrow.
"Vi?"
I bent down and smirked when his eyes dropped to my neckline. His sight whipped back to me when I loosened his tie, and did quick work of unbuttoning his shirt.
"No undershirt. Perfect," I said, before I parted the fabric to reveal his chest.
White skin; pale, small freckles, and the soft rounds of his pecs and the top of his belly— the arrow of flesh revealed to me had my breath quickening.
"You're going to kill me," he mumbled.
I pressed my lips on his chest, making sure I left lipstick marks left of center. A second, third kiss later, and the tint on my lips would be perfectly dabbed.
I straightened and admired my work. "You can button that up again, but don't you dare clean up my masterpiece."
"Fuck, Vi." His fingers did nimble work of his buttons. "I hope I survive you."
I lowered my eyes to his lap, where an impressive erection strained his pants.
An eyebrow arched high on my face. "I hope I survive you too."
"Shit." A jittery chuckle escaped his throat. "You know how to make me feel the whole range of human emotions in a single moment. Good thing cardiac events don't run in my birth family."
I gave him one last kiss, grabbed my purse, and took a few steps back. "I hope you have a second to calm down that python in your pants."
His laughter came out full on strangled this time. "You have to be quiet. You have to stop."
"I'm only concerned about how you're supposed to concentrate when you have no blood left for higher functions."
