I smiled. Tenderness for him rippled from my clavicles down to my belly button. The bed in the guest room had to be uncomfortable for someone his size, yet he'd never protested. In fact, he never complained about anything.
There was a multiverse timeline where that meant he wasn't fussy nor particular, and could come to love Laguna Island in all its simplicity.
The thought screamed danger. What if I believed it, even for a second, only to fall from the tall heights of its hope?
I didn't get to fight the notion. Max's arm twitched around me. His cock hardened against my ass. The change stole all of my attention.
His breathing quickened, just like mine did. He made little noises I wouldn't expect from someone awake. My body responded immediately but I didn't move; I held still, too worried I'd wake him up and we’d embarrass each other, or end up jumping into something I wanted but couldn't convince myself to do.
My pulse sped up until it rang in my ears, an overwhelming feeling squeezing my lungs. He was asleep and dreaming; I didn't blame his brain nor his body. After all, whatever part of his unconscious ruled him at the moment might only know that a warm, soft body lay next to him. He might not even be dreaming about us. He might have been dreaming about someone else, for all I knew.
His hips bucked. I bit my lower lip not to make a sound.
I wanted him. I couldn't do anything about it now, not when he couldn't consent, but my body wanted to do something about my attraction for him, stat.
"Eva," he mumbled.
My world shifted on its axis. The knowledge that he was having a sex dream about me engraved itself in my veins.
His limbs twitched again. I gulped. I had no idea what to do, except try to control my heart. Was it okay that I didn't want to wake him up? He was impressively aroused, and it had me dizzy with the desire to explore what this might lead to… yet I couldn't do anything about it.
If I rolled away, he'd wake up. He'd probably pass it off with a cheeky joke. Give me one of those suggestions I was never sure he meant, only this time I might take him seriously and come to regret it.
A moment later he shifted his hips again. The next, he stilled. An eerie quietness filled the room. The hairs on the back of my neck perked up, tracking what he would do next. I evened out my breathing and waited.
He turned away from me. A softfuckreached me from his side. I didn't dare move.
Some time later, he sighed. Nothing else. No other movements, no other sounds.
Until he pulled back the blankets and sat on the side of the bed.
It was a good excuse. I turned to my back and stared at his naked one.
"You okay?" I asked in a soft voice.
He turned to me. "Sorry, darling. Did I wake you?"
I shrugged not to have to answer. "Are you getting up?"
"I planned to take a shower. How did you sleep?"
"I slept well. You?"
"I dreamt about you." He gave me a playful smirk. "How about that?"
"Are you okay with that?"
"With the dream? Of course. The land of Morpheus can be… special, but is always out of our control. Are you okay that I dreamt about you?"
I bit my lip. "I think I am."
"How about that?" He smiled. "Did you dream about me?"
"I don't know. I never remember my dreams, but… it feels like I did."
I wished I did. Then I might not have to live with the truth of how much I wanted his proximity… or how much I wanted him on top of me next time.
