I gazed around the small boardroom on the top floor of the company building, letting my eyes connect with my dad, uncle, and the rest of management.
"It's decided, then." I made my voice sound confident; it pleased me to feel my vocal cords and even my whole chest offered no resistance to my goal. "This is the final plan for the shortlist proposal."
If I gave myself permission to be extra, I would decorate the folder with gold foil and preserve it in a shadowbox. Nothing less for the document that solidified that the stadium deal would be mine, and an opportunity for my father to mentor me as the future director of Martínez and Associates.
I stole a final glance at my uncle. The look on Tío Miguel's face, so full of contained rage— the dark purple of blood flowing to his brown face, a deep frown, and tight lips— gave me immense pleasure. Best of all? My dad kept quiet, but did not placateme. I bit the inside of my lip not to let out an evil snicker.
A knock on the door distracted me. My assistant hovered there, waiting for my attention.
"Gabriel Sotomayor is here."
I grinned. Of course he was. He'd helped me with the final proposal, shaping the stadium deal and turning it into the section of our careers we got to share. A project we were both incredibly proud of. One we were confident would give him the CEO title officially, too.
Funnily enough, this project was only a small part of everything we shared. We'd really, really found a way to have it all.
"Please tell him I'll be right out, thanks," I said. "We're almost done here."
We wrapped up the meeting, and I didn't even try to hide the joy exploding in my chest. Maybe that was why, when I entered my office to find Gabe standing in the middle of it, facing toward me and talking on the phone, I ignored the device and half-tackled him into a hug.
"Yeah, move that meeti—fffff— agh." From the sound of his interrupted message, his lungs may have malfunctioned as I walked right into him and squeezed. He surrounded me with his free arm to keep me in place, confirming what I'd known: he'd loved my hello. "Sorry, I just— anyway. Please move that meeting to the afternoon, Solange."
I rested my head on the nook of his neck. The warm smell of his cologne filled my senses and I sighed in pleasure.
"Right, yeah," he said to the phone. "Mh-hm. Okay."
I loved hearing the vibration of his voice in his chest, but I lifted my head regardless. Peppering kisses on his jaw, neck, and face was a favorite thing of mine, too.
He seemed to enjoy my lips on him this way, because he shifted his head to give me better access, while still talking on his cell. "Well, yeah. That's something Jake is going to oversee now, so can you discuss it with his assistant?"
I briefly considered closing my door and getting on my knees, but the last time I'd done that he'd made me pay afterwards. Even though I didn't have all the details for what we'd be doing that night, I knew enough to know it wasn't the right time to do that.
For a treat, I allowed my hands to get under his blazer and grab his side rolls through his tailored shirt, then continue the journey to his ass. I squeezed and brought his hips forward to rub against my softness.
"Ungh." The sound had been low in his throat, but I heard it, and I laughed. "That's it. Yep. That's it— Solange."
The chuckle that came out of me had a similar range as his bassyungh.
"Gotta go now," he continued. "Ah-hah. Sure. Okay, bye. You too, bye."
He'd already pulled the phone away from his ear as he said the last few words, and now tapped on it with his hand half-way around me. With both arms now, he brought me closer and, in the same move, gave me a hard kiss.
"You’re evil," he said. "We need another talk, it seems. You know I have a hard time thinking when you’re all over me like this."
I grinned. "It's not like you didn't like it. Even though it can… get hard."
He smirked, raised an eyebrow, and rubbed his semi on me. "And it's not like you don't like it when I give you a stern talking to."
"Oh, noooo." I made my tone as fake as possible. "Are you going to punish me later? I thought we wouldn't have time for it tonight."
The smirk turned cheeky on his lips. He took a step back from me and rearranged his shirt; his blazer. The phone went directly to his pocket. "We don't have time for it tonight, but there's always the weekend. I'm thinking you really need a reprimand."
With a smile on my face, I rounded the corner of my desk and focused on turning off my laptop and gathering my things.
"Are you finally going to reveal the plan for tonight, then?" I grabbed my bag and made sure I wasn't forgetting anything. "My overnight things are in my closet, if you can help me get it?"
Gabe went for it. "We're going to see that band you wanted to see live."
My hands froze halfway to closing my purse. I lifted my eyes to him. "You mean… no, you don't meanCruz Al Sur? They're not playing here tonight."
