“It’s a shit fest,” Hunter called from offscreen.

Striker shot him an irritated look but didn’t disagree.“The terrorists have a serious hard-on for Keiko. She’s their final game to get the attention they want.In the meantime, they’re killing everyone else, one person an hour, until Miriam gives in to their demands.”

“Which she won’t,” Mace said.

Striker nodded.“Meanwhile, Enforcement’s gaining numbers by the second. The psycho twins are here, and our contacts say they have instructions to protect the data regardless of the body count. On top of all that, the whole world saw you on that ledge. It raised questions, brother.”

“Was there any close-up footage of it?”His bat wasn’t native to Houston so would raise eyebrows if they got a good look at it.

“Fortunately, no.But there were some nice close-ups of your ugly mug.”

“There was nothing I could do to stop it.Trust me, I tried.Who took out the light?”

“Sandi.”

They grinned at each other.

“Okay,” Mace said.“I’ve got a couple of things I need to do before we head to the security hub.Guess I’ll see you guys once the diversion hits.”

“What do you have to do?”Striker asked the question Mace had been hoping he wouldn’t ask.

“Uh, I left some blood on a broken window that needs cleaning up, and my bat’s still outside, hunting bugs.I need to get it back.”

Striker’s head fell forward.“This jus’ keeps gettin’ better and better,” he muttered before the screen went blank.
