“Cutter in there too?” Abasi asked. “Who’re they dealing with? The Albanians?”
“Naw, they found the girl. Boss is working her over. Got no clue why,” the guy on the left said.
“Don’t know. Don’t care,” the other added.
“Cutter says we get some time with her before he finishes her off.” The left guy smirked.
“Ain’t it great to have a job with perks?” Abasi reached behind him for his gun as the men laughed.
David was faster. He’d pushed the door open and shot both in the chest before Abasi even had his gun in his hand.
“You ruin all my fun,” Abasi said dryly as David stalked across the room to join him.
“Do you know the code?” David nodded toward the keypad on the door.
“Not to this room. Only Cutter, Tommy and the two dead stooges have that code. We need to make them come out to us.”
“Any ideas?”
They stared at the door.
“If we do anything to spook them, they’ll kill Elle,” Abasi said, stating the obvious.
“Can you call Cutter and tell him you know he’s looking for you? That you’re upstairs waiting for him?”
Abasi stared at him like he was an idiot. “Yeah, because he’ll rush straight up the stairs to get to the guy he knows wants to kill him.”
“What if we just bang on the door and mumble something?”
“Mumble something?”
“Come out, boss, it’s urgent,” David said. “That kind of thing.”
“You haven’t been around many gangsters, have you? Tommy won’t come out because his bodyguard tells him to. He’ll wait until he’s ready, then shoot the idiot who pissed him off.”
“Then how the hell do we get him to open the door?”
“I’m thinking,” Abasi said as a muffled scream came from the hidden room.
“Think faster,” David snapped. “He’s hurting her.”
“Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit.” Abasi paced.
The wet room had gone deathly silent, and David’s skin was electric with the tension.
“I’ve got it.” Abasi pulled out his phone. “I’ll call one of the captains and get him to call Tommy with something urgent. Keep your gun trained on the door. This is going to happen fast. And remember, Cutter’s mine.”
David raised his weapon.
Just stay alive a little bit longer, Blue. I’m coming for you.

“You’ve got my hard drive?”Tommy said into the phone as he stared at Elle.
His eyes were cold and flat, letting her know he was contemplating the best way to end her.
“What do you mean the fucking techs have it?” he bellowed.
