His adoring fans awaited him.

“No,”Mitch Harris said after Josh had finished explaining all the reasons he should babysit for Grunt and Claire. And then he hung up.
Josh stared at his phone for a second as the dial tone beeped at him. “Mitch is a no go,” he told his wife.
“That leaves Matt.” She reached over to pluck the phone from his hand. “Surely he won’t mind looking after his nieces and nephews for a weekend. I’ll make the call this time.”
Josh grinned. Matt Donaldson didn’t stand a chance against his wife. As he watched her dial, he wondered if they had any popcorn in the house. He needed it for the show.

“Whooo!”Jasper screeched as he raced up the corridor to his dressing room. “Best concert ever!”
His band and entourage whooped their agreement behind him. The mountainous bodyguard, who insisted on staying at his side, remained silent.
“Who’s ready to party?” he shouted over his shoulder as he entered his suite.
There was a chorus of excited agreement in response.
“Half an hour, we meet downstairs.” He nodded to the head of band security. “Jono, you got the transport sorted?”
“As always,” Jono smiled.
Now, why couldn’t he have played bodyguard while Mike was out of commission?
“Let’s do this!” he shouted before the door shut, leaving him and Grunt alone in his rooms.
Jasper watched as Grunt did a walk-through, checking every nook and cranny.
“Don’t think a crazed fan could hide in the mini-fridge,” Jasper mocked.
“No. But a bomb could.”
Shit. This guy was insane. “I’m going to shower, and then we’re going clubbing.” He paused, half waiting for a reminder that he was supposed to go back to the hotel and sleep until his interview. Grunt said nothing. He just positioned himself in front of the door to the hallway and waited.
With a shrug, Jasper headed to the shower. High on the aftereffects of a fantastic gig, all he wanted to do was dance, drink, and pick up some girls.
“Bring it on,” he shouted as he turned on the water.
As long as Grunt didn’t get in his way, they’d make it through the weekend.
And then Mike would be back. Because seriously, how long did it take to heal a broken wrist?

“I can’t babysit that weekend,”Matt Donaldson told Caroline McInnes. “Jena and I are going away.”
He didn’t bother checking the calendar. No matter what weekend it was, they weren’t available. Only an idiot would take on watching his younger sister’s kids for a whole weekend. And he wasn’t an idiot. No, he was the senior police officer in Invertary, and he was used to dealing with reprobates and criminals who thought they could outthink him. No one was going to get one over on him when it came to his family.
“Yes, you can,” Caroline’s cool voice said in his ear. “That’s the weekend Jena’s teaching the women at the refuge how to put up shelves.”
His jaw dropped. “How do you know that?” Hell, even he didn’t know that!
“I organized it. It’s part of the program we’re running to help the women have confidence in their transition back into society. Self-defense and security awareness take up the bulk of the course, but Lake’s team is dealing with that side of things. Jena’s helping with home maintenance, for when they move into their own homes again.”
Matt mentally groaned. “Well, I can’t watch the kids on my own. I need Jena here, so that rules me out. Good luck finding someone else.”
