She looked up and leaned back, sure he wouldn’t let her go. “All right. I want this week to be about fun. I haven’t been to a ranch or riding or camping for a very long time. Not since my dad died ten years ago.”

“That’s a long time. I hope I can give you as wonderful memories as he gave you. You deserve it.”

“Thanks.”

The speaker sounded overhead. “Please prepare for takeoff. We’ll be taxiing out to the runway for a couple of minutes, and then we’ll be in the air. Flying time is approximately one hour and forty minutes. We should be at the hangar in Bozeman about ten minutes after landing.”

She looked around her for a seatbelt. “Where do we sit to buckle up?”

He released her and pointed at all the chairs and sofas. “Anywhere you want. Though I recommend the chairs for takeoffs and landings. They feel sturdier, if you know what I mean. I think because there are two arms, not just one, as on the end of the sofa.”

She picked a chair with a small table between it and the next chair.

Roark sat in the chair beside hers.

Five minutes later, they were in the air.

“You may walk about the cabin now. They forecast the weather to be clear all the way to Bozeman.” The microphone clicked off.

Roark unbuckled his seatbelt and stood. “Would you like something to drink? We have just about everything from water to bourbon.”

“It’s a little early for alcohol, so how about coffee? I didn’t have mine this morning and could really use some, or I’ll be falling asleep on one of those couches.”

“Coffee coming up.” Roark headed toward the kitchen.

Jessica followed. She leaned against a counter, out of his way. “Do you usually take care of yourself when you fly, or do you have an employee who normally serves you on board?”

He took the single-cup coffee maker out of a cupboard under the counter next to the stove. Then he filled it with water and plugged it into the wall socket. “I do for myself, most of the time. When I have a lot of guests, I have a couple of flight attendants who look after us. Rob and Laura Gentry are a married couple who used to be flight attendants for United Airlines. When they retired, they came to work for me. They’ve been with me for about five years now.”

When the coffeemaker was ready, he opened a drawer filled with coffee pods. “What kind would you like?”

She walked over and stared into the drawer. “Anything with double caffeine.”

“I’ve got just the thing. I like it when I have a lot of meetings scheduled.” He popped the pod into the machine, closed it and pressed Start.

As the scent of freshly brewed coffee hit her nostrils, Jessica closed her eyes. “Mmm. There’s nothing like the smell of fresh coffee. It revs up all my senses and gets me ready for the day.”

He came up behind her and put his arms around her waist. “I know something else that can rev up your senses for the day.”

She laughed and then took a sip of the coffee. “Mmm. This is so good. And no, you don’t. Men cannot rev me up like my first cup of coffee in the morning.”

He kissed her neck behind her ear.

She shivered and couldn’t pretend that she hadn’t felt anything.

“Are you sure about that?” He kissed her again, this time on the other side of her neck.

The kiss nearly made her knees weak. “Yes, I’m sure. But you can continue to try.”

He chuckled and turned her in his arms.

She set her coffee on the counter.

“You’re a liar, Miss Kirby.” He lowered his head and placed a line of fiery kisses down her throat.

I’m so glad I wore a tank top today.“Am I? You can continue to try to change my mind.”

He gently nipped her neck, licked it, and followed that with a kiss. “How about now?”
