He held her by her waist. “I’m glad you’re not. Let’s go.” He took them out the side door and into the garage.

She stopped just inside the door and whistled. “Holy cow!” This was one of the few times she wished she’d been more of a gear-head and could recognize all the kinds of cars. Her dad would have loved the six-car garage and every car in it. She knew for sure there was a silver Jaguar with the sleek cat hood ornament. It was the one with the fast back.

He walked over to the black convertible.

She followed, and from their earlier conversation, she knew it was a Camaro. And he had the candy-apple-red Mustang he drove yesterday. That was the extent of her car knowledge. Except he also had a dark blue pickup hooked up to a charger on the wall. That had to be a Ford Lightning. She’d seen the commercials at her mother’s. The green car and the white car were makes she didn’t know. “You have a lot of vehicles.”

He stood next to her on the passenger side of the Camaro. “I’m a bit of a car junkie. I have another garage in downtown Denver that is filled with cars, trucks and motorcycles. I’ll take you over there one day.”

She ran her hand lovingly over the black paint, which shone like it was covered in moonlight. “My dad would have loved to see them. He was a bit of a car junkie, too.”

“We’ll plan a meeting. Perhaps your mother and my parents can meet for lunch and then we’ll go to the garage.”

“I can’t speak for her, but I’ll ask.”

His brows formed slashes over his eyes, and he waved a hand in front of him. “No…no, of course not. I’m sorry. I don’t mean to push so hard. I want us to get to know each other before our families get involved, as I’m sure you do, too.”

She nodded. “That’s exactly what I was thinking.”

He opened the passenger door on the Camaro and held it until she was buckled in, then closed it. Then he walked around the car to the driver’s side and climbed in.

He was so tall, the seat looked like he set it all the way back. Not that she minded. She liked the fact she could wear her three-and four-inch heels, and he’d still be taller.

“Ready?”

“Yup. All buckled up.”

“Then let’s do this. I can’t wait for you to see it.”

I can’t either. Anything that gets him so excited, I want to see, to be part of. I wonder what it will be that is so incredible.
