“She has a knife,” Jake called.

Patricia lifted her head to grumble, “A makeup palette knife.”

After disarming her, Jake held the knife up for everyone to see.

“Yeah,” Hunter said. “That’s for makeup. It’s not sharp.”

Jake offered Patricia his hand and brushed her off. “I’m sorry.”

Shaking his head, Hunter climbed the steps to his trailer. “Be out in a sec.” The door swung closed behind him.

Patricia changed directions and came tromping back their way. As she passed Jenna, she glared and mouthed, “I’ll get you, my pretty.”

“What?” Jenna asked.

“You’re so pretty.” Turning her back to Jenna, she tramped away.

Jenna swung her backpack in front of her and felt around, ensuring her lucky charm was in its place. She smiled as she fingered hard metal. Six months at the shooting range with her father had turned her into a decent shot. She could even hit the bull’s-eye every once in a while. Patricia better watch her step.

Hunter’s trailer opened and he flashed her a beam that sent her heart to the stars. “Let’s go, beautiful. I can’t wait to share England with you.”

“I’m ready!” She slung her backpack over her shoulder and clasped his hand.
