“Yay!” Ethan screeched.
Lisa slapped little palms on her tray table.
“Could I have a tiny scoop, Miss Marie?” asked Kylie.
“How about you, Jenna?”
She nodded. “Lots of whipped cream for me. And I think there are maraschino cherries in the refrigerator.”
Perhaps ice cream would distract her from her aching heart and growing dread.

Jenna needed a healthy way to fill the time while she waited for Hunter to return her messages—if he ever did respond. She whimpered. Had she been a fool to think she meant something to him?
One of her greatest loves was reading, and it had been forever since she’d relaxed with a book. Since her manuscript was finished, the kids were bathed and in bed, and the dishes were done, she crawled under her covers with a romantic comedy by her favorite author, B.R. Richards. It was way more productive than staring at her phone and waiting for a call that may or may not come.
Her phone chimed. Unfortunately, it was the ass.
“What do you want, Matt?”
“How’s Kylie?”
“She’s pretty quiet. She’s still hungover and really embarrassed.”
“Yeah. Mom is horrified.”
One. Two. Three.“She’s humiliated that the kids at the party saw her puking drunk.” When he didn’t respond, she continued. “I asked the guidance counselor at school to meet with her.”
Matt’s heavy sigh slapped her ear.
“The new nanny is awesome,” Jenna declared.
“That’s great,” he said.
During the five seconds of uncomfortable silence, she considered telling Matt about her upcoming meeting with the streaming service. Certain that he would keep her secret, she was about to confess her good fortune when he spoke.
“Are you sleeping with someone?”
Jenna responded with an exasperated, “What do you care?”
“You’re still my wife, and we have a family together. I think we should halt the divorce proceedings. It might be what’s best for the kids.”
She closed her eyes and steadied her breathing. Maybe it would be best for the kids. “But how can I ever trust you again?”
“I suspect you’re sleeping with someone, so now we’re even,” he said.
How dare he compare a fling she’d had six months into their separation to his cheating on her for over a year? Jenna’s building blood pressure about caused her eyeballs to explode. “Matt, you don’t want me. You just don’t want anyone else to have me.”
“You’re my wife,” he said.
“I won’t be in a few months.” She disconnected and slammed her phone on the mattress.
Two seconds later, the phone rang again. Since it was Matt instead of Hunter, she pressedIgnore. The bastard wouldn’t ruin her evening.
Once she calmed down, her thoughts returned to Hunter Stone and how he had made love to every inch of her body. Her breasts became heavy, her toes tingled, and her panties dampened. To hell with her willpower. She clicked into his social media. The man had posted numerous times a day for over a year, and the past two days—zilch!
Since she’d taken the picture, she figured there was no harm in checking out FollowMe and gawking at him naked in their hotel bed. She pressed every button she could find, but the elusive image was nowhere to be seen, even though she was certain he’d posted it.
