Fifteen minutes into our conversation, my doorbell rang. I wasn’t expecting anyone, so I pulled my cameras up on my phone. My cheeks rose so high that I almost couldn’t see.

“Serenity.”

“What?”

“He’s here.”

“Who? Keondra?”

I kissed my teeth. “Girl, who else?”

“Ooohhh, so he likes to do pop-ups too. I knew I liked him! Go get that man out the heat and call me later to tell me about your day. I love you.”

“I love you too.”

Ending the call, I rose to my feet and did a little shimmy before going to open the door for Keondra. He stood there with more bush lilies, smelling oh so divine. His melanin glowed underneath the sunlight, and if it wasn’t so hot, I would’ve let him stand there to simply admire God’s hard work.

“Good morning, beautiful.”

“Good morning, handsome. I had to say, I thought you’d forgotten about me this morning,” I admitted, taking the flowers from him and stepping to the side.

When he walked by, my hand automatically went to his bulky arm, which was on full display in the tank he wore. He smirked and pushed his glasses up, something I oddly found sexy as well.

“I could never forget about you, Colony. I just wanted to surprise you, and I know how I am. If I would’ve spoken to you, I would’ve told on myself.”

“Oh, so you had me sweating for no reason?”

He chuckled and tugged on his goatee. “My bad. I didn’t mean to. You just have me doing things I don’t normally do.”

“Oh, really?”

“Really. When you told me you’d taken the day off, I made some arrangements to do the same so we could spend the day together.”

If I smiled any harder, my jaw would’ve cracked. “That was a well-kept surprise. I guess I can give you a pass.”

Keondra stepped into my personal space, tucked his fingers underneath my chin, and blessed me with a sensual kiss. “Do you forgive me?”

“Only if you give me another kiss.”

He obliged, and I happily accepted. Kissing him was something I could never get enough of. The passion behind it always made me weak at the knees. I could stay wrapped up in him all day and never get tired.

Feeling the heat gather in my center, I pecked Keondra and peered up at him. “What are we doing today?”

“Well, KeKe’s birthday is coming up, so I wanted to see if you would come help me pick out a few things for her. After that, I figured we could go have a picnic by the waterfall before I have to pick her up.”

“Oh, I’m so down for that. I am hungry now, though. I was about to fix me something to eat.”

Without replying, Keondra winked at me and headed to my kitchen. I followed him to see what he was up to while switching my flowers out. Keondra scoured through my fridge and cabinets, pulling out ingredients I’d forgotten about. He washed his hands and started cooking. It took no time for my house to start smelling heavenly, making my stomach growl something serious.

“Now, how did you whip up all this from nothing in my kitchen?” I questioned when he set a plate of fluffy, homemade butter biscuits, over easy eggs, turkey bacon, and the little bit of fruit I had left in front of me.

“I have that touch. You gotta know what you have and how to use it.”

“Oh, trust me. You do.”

Keondra winked at me, knowing exactly what I was talking about.

A moan rattled my throat when I took a bite of a biscuit, and it melted in my mouth like butter. “This is the best biscuit I’ve ever had in my life. I could easily eat these every day and never get tired of them.”
