Oddly, I don’t feel as excited as I usually do when I think about my next kill. I guess the thrill I got last night kind of overshadows it.

Never in a million years would I have thought sex could create anywhere near the kind of serotonin rush that comes from plunging my knife into human flesh.

But yesterday wasn’t just sex. It wasn’tevensex. It was a man who wants to kill me, fucking me with his weapons whiletaunting me about my Daddy.

Honestly, is there anything sexier than that?

Heat rushes to the space between my legs, and I squeeze my thighs, trying to take the edge off my arousal. Thank god I sat in the very back row of the lecture hall.

But then, I feel a hand on my shoulder.

“Oh, fuck.”

It’s him—he’s here.

I’ve always prided myself on being stealthy, but I let this guy creep right up on me. He sits down and all I can do is stare at him, my mouth opening and shutting.

If this is how I’m going to act around him, he might actually have a shot at killing me.

“Hey baby,” he says easily, settling down in his chair. “Aren’t you going to say hi to your daddy?”

I try to stifle my panic under a cold glare.

“What the hell are you doing here? Campbell will freak if he sees his son’s kill—”

I interrupt myself with an awkward cough. I’ve gotten so used to the lie, I’ve nearly said it to the only other person in this world who knows the truth about that night.

That other person sinks backward in his chair, his arm reaching out to wrap around my shoulder.

“Take notes for me.”

I give him the most frigid look I can manage. “There’s no fucking way they let you in.”

“Don’t worry, baby. I’m not actually enrolled. I’m just sitting in on this class for the sole pleasure of observing—you. I’d rather wipe my ass with a cheese grater than attend Devil College. Also, language.”

“What?” I blink at him in confusion.

“You saidfucking.”

“I did not sayfucking!”

“You just said it again.”

“I… that’s not even… fuck!”

I whip my attention back to my computer, opening a new word document and preparing to take notes. I can’t remember the last time I was nervous, but I’ve been battling with that uncomfortable sensation ever since I heard Finn had been released.

The nerves don’t come from knowing he wants me dead—that I can handle. But the way he makes my core twist—that, I don’t know what the hell to do with. No one else ever had such an effect on me. Who knew all it took was fucking my ass with a rifle butt while calling me a good girl?

Though if I’m being honest with myself, it started a long time ago. Back at that party in high school.

“Oh, is that really what you want?” he smirks.

“What I… want?” I ask in confusion, trying to remember what we’re talking about.

“Just keep swearing, baby, and you’llreallyget what’s coming to you. I told you, didn’t I? I’m your daddy now.”

I toss my hair back angrily while flipping him off.
