I didn’t have a suitable answer for that. So I donned my coat, grabbed my cold coffee, nodded to Mariah, and headed out into the fresh air. The temperature had gone up a few degrees, and I didn’t need my gloves.

At loose ends, I walked down to Granville Island. The walk did me good as I tried to clear my mind from all the shit going on. I moved from vendor to vendor, eyeing their wares and trying to find something that might suit Hamish or Donovan.

Nothing.

I considered and disregarded many things. Most had some cheese factor that I just couldn’t overcome—while others implied a level of intimacy we didn’t have yet.

Eventually, I gave up and headed back to headquarters so I could grab my car. Instead of heading to New West, though, I pointed my car north, drove over the Cambie Bridge, and headed into downtown Vancouver.

You’re nuts.

I made it as far as Hamish’s office before remembering he was also on suspension.

And I didn’t know where he lived.

Somewhere close by, if memory served. In Vancouver, however, that meant little. The office towers sat next to the condos—everything blending together.

I sat in my car and stared at my phone.

Finally, I found my courage and sent the text asking to come over.

After forever, he responded.

—Yes.—

I did a happy dance.

Chapter Seventeen

Hamish

“Hi, Doc.” Tyson’s shy smile warmed my heart. He stood in the doorway of my condo and followed me as I ushered him in. He barely had time to take in his surroundings before I had him pushed up against the locked front door. I grasped his cheeks in my hands and drew his mouth to mine.

Shock hit me, or at least part of me. As our tongues twined, the idea of consent flitted through my mind.

Right up until the moment he grasped my hips, drew me against him, and thrust his erect cock against my own hard one. Despite the denim and corduroy, his ardency was damn clear. He wanted me. I wanted him.

He cupped the back of my neck and grasped a handful of my hair in his fingers. He tugged.

My shaft hardened further. I pulled away from the kiss, even as I pressed against him. “Jesus, Tyson, that feels good.”

“You like that, eh?”

I swallowed as he tugged again. “Goddamn it, yes.”

“Wait until I do it when we’re in bed. You’ll come so hard that it’ll blow your mind.”

“Oh, Jesus.”

“Yeah, that.”

I didn’t curse often—but this moment certainly called for it. The carnality of what we were doing was unfathomable. The intimacy went straight to my head. Talk about going from zero to one hundred.Am I ready for this? He’d come here to have a conversation.

In my back pocket, my phone vibrated with an incoming call.

For a nanosecond, I considered ignoring it.

Tyson, obviously feeling the vibration, pulled back. “Donovan?”
