Zane shrugged, not willing to let me win this one, which made me laugh again.

That night, as we held each other after making love, I turned to Zane.

“Aren’t you nervous?”

Zane met my eyes, a look of love and determination on his face.

“Ella, I’m not nervous at all. You are going to make an amazing mother. You are kind and soft and strong—exactly the mother we need to raise a good alpha.”

I smiled and nestled into his arms.

“You know you’re going to make a great dad. This kid is lucky to have you.” I smiled up at him.

Zane shrugged.

“I sure hope so. If I end up being half the dad my father was, then I think I’ll be okay.”

“Do you want a boy or a girl?”

“Honestly, I’d be okay with either one. I wouldn’t mind having a little mini-Ella running around.” Zane laughed at the image in his mind.

“I’m excited to start our family.” I gave Zane a warm smile as I thought about all our little pups running around the packhouse.

“Me too. I’m up for it if you are.”

“Challenge accepted.” I gave him a smirk before leaning in for a deep kiss. My love for him overflowing.

Chapter 46

Epilogue

ZANE

FIVE YEARS LATER

“Connor! Stop sitting on your brother and you two get down here!” Ella yelled from the bottom of the hill as she set up tables for the pack barbecue.

I stepped off the porch and ran up to my boys, scooping one up in each arm and carrying them down the hill as they squealed in delight.

“Put me down, Daaaaad!” Connor yelled.

“Yeah! Put us down! Or we’ll have to wrestle you!” Kyle echoed.

The twins, who had just turned four, had been the biggest shock of our lives and brought so much chaos and joy to our family.

They both had dark hair like their parents and Ella’s hazel eyes, which I loved. And they had more energy in their pinky fingers than I had in my whole body.

I laughed as I set the boys down in front of their mother. The three of us looked up at Ella, her hands on her hips and a smirk on her face. We gave our best puppy eyes and Ella laughed.

“I’m pretty sure I askedallof you to come help me set up. How come I’m the only one working?”

I gave an innocent smile and kissed her cheek before hustling the boys off to help set up the dance floor.

I turned back to look at my mate. She was beautiful in her summer dress, and it stirred my whole being when I watched her.

My gaze turned when I heard a loud scream coming toward me.

I turned to the side to see our two-year-old Emma running in my direction, a little wild ball of curly blonde hair and freckles, with a winded Grandpa Daniel trailing behind her.
