I tilt her face up and press my lips against hers. “Little known fact about me,” I murmur against her. “I’m not always sweet.”

Her eyes flash with mischief. “I’m looking forward to that.”

The noise I make sounds a lot like a growl and she laughs as she pulls away. “Goodnight, Bodhi.”

“Hang on.” I reach for her. “I was stupid downstairs. We should definitely make out some more.”

She laughs, dancing away from my grasping hands. “Nope. You promised me a date.”

“I’m a fucking idiot,” I grumble, thinking about the fact that her bed is mere feet away.

Her laugh echoes behind her as she steps into her room. “Good night, Bodhi.”

“Good night, Lele.”

Then she’s gone, leaving me alone in the hallway, feeling happier than I have in a long, long time.
