PARKER

We stumbled through Levi’s maze until we got to the hidden doorway that led upstairs to his apartment. As I watched him unlock the door to his sanctuary, my chest felt filled with bubbles—light, airy, and magical.

I was Levi’s mate.

I might not have understood all the nuances of being a mate, not in the way a supe would, but I understood about marriage and commitment. I understood about vowing to spend the rest of your life at someone’s side. My father hadn’t kept his vow to my mother, and maybe that made my promises to Levi all the more significant, because I knew I’d never be like my father.

I was in this with Levi. All the way. Forever and ever.

When we reached the apartment, we stood face to face. He smiled softly, almost shyly, at me. He was mine. I couldn’t believe it. I reached up and combed my fingersthrough the pretty blue streak of hair at his temple. Under these lights, I could finally see it properly.

“Wow, that’s so wild,” I murmured.

“I was right,” Levi said, as he brushed my matching lock of hair. “The color is lighter than your eyes, but it suits you perfectly.”

I grinned at him. “Maybe this’ll mean my cousin will quit flirting with you.”

Levi rolled his eyes. “Your cousin doesn’t flirt with me.”

“Right.” I shook my head. “Keep telling yourself that. I think your flirt-o-meter is broken. I mean, how many times did I flirt with you, and you never reacted?”

“I wanted to,” Levi said.

“If I flirted with you now, what would you do?”

“You don’t have to flirt. You know I’m yours. I will go wherever you want.”

“Well…” I winked at him. “What if I said I wanted to go to bed?”

He licked his lips. “Then we should go to bed.”

When I turned toward the bed, a new inspiration struck. I pivoted to the sofa instead.

“Parker?”

“Can we turn on the fireplace?”

A moment later, the gaslit flames burst to life in the fireplace. The lights dimmed overhead.

“Nice,” I murmured. “Now, I think we have too many clothes on…”

With teasing fingertips and questing mouths, we helped one another shed our clothes until we were standing naked before the warm glow of the firelight.

“Should we…?” Levi hooked his thumb toward the bed.

The first time we’d made love, he was behind me, and I couldn’t see his face. This time felt just as monumental, and I didn’t want to miss a moment. I wanted to see his face, and I wanted him to see mine.

So I shook my head and nudged him toward the sofa. Obliging me, he sat. His thick, muscular limbs sprawled across the pristine white fabric. His soft black body hair glinted under the flickering light, and I wanted to push my fingers through it. His face was wickedly close to my hard length.

“Ah… I see…” he whispered as he sat up and drew me closer until I was standing between his legs. His hands boldly skated up the back of my thighs to urge me to get closer. He leaned forward until the heat of his breath coasted over my cock. I shivered.

This wasn’t exactly what I had in mind, but I didn’t stop him. When his hot, wet mouth embraced me, I reached out and braced myself against his powerful shoulders. Sweet Mother of…

Words abandoned me as Levi choked on my cock. Just like that, I was on the precipice of a climax.

I pushed him off.

“Not yet,” I said on a panting breath. “Not like that. And don’t move.”
