Ichecked on my investments next.Happily,Wesleyhadn’t gotten his filthy little hands on any of those.NotthatI’dexpected he could.Supeinvestment firms, like the oneIused, took long-term investments seriously, since most of their clients lived much longer lives than humans.Alot of spells and wards protected the accounts, and nothing could be accessed or moved quickly or easily.Justto be sure, though,Ichanged all my passwords.

ThenImoved on to more entertaining activities, like shopping.

Mylittle kitty cat needed so much—clothes, dishes, cutlery, towels, bedding, personal hygiene products, groceries—it was difficult to decide where to turn my attention first.Oh, who wasIkidding?OfcourseIstarted with clothes.Atsome point,Iwanted to getSimonan appointment with myLondontailor, butIdidn’t want to go abroad just now.Instead,Iscrolled through the latest fashions in the best clothing boutiquesIcould find with an online shopping app.Itwould have been better to go to the shops in person, but we couldn’t all have what we wanted.Afterthe fourth website,Ifinally found clothesIthought my kitty cat would wear, except they were a thousand times nicer than anything he currently owned.

Simonarrived home just asIput another shirt in my digital shopping cart.

“Come, come,”Isaid, waving him over. “Ihave so much to show you.”

Simonkicked off his shoes, then warily approached the couch, whichI’dbeen using as my personal office.

“Vanstopped by to drop off my phone.”Iheld it up, as if he could miss it.

“Okay…”Simonsat beside me.

Ibrushed a kiss across his cheek, then snuggled in close.I’dbeen an independent dragon for a lot of years, rarely inviting a prospective partner back to my place, butIloved cuddling with my kitty cat.Heput his arm around my shoulders and tilted his head so it rested against mine.

“Whatdid you want to show me?”

“Ihaven’t purchased anything yet, butIwould really like to get you a few new things.”

“Whatkinds of things?Likefor the apartment?”

Ishook my head. “Clothes.”

“Ihave clothes.”Hesounded confused.

“Everyonecan always use more,”Isaid, not bothering to point out how dismal his wardrobe currently was.

“Youdon’t have to do that.”

Iturned and brushed another kiss against his cheek. “Iwant to.”

“I…I…”Hestammered.

“Whatis it, love?”Thistime,Isat up soIcould face him.

“Ican’t dress like you and wear bright orange and fire engine red or vivid purple or lemon yellow or?—”

Icut off his panicked words with a kiss.Whenwe separated,Ismiled at him. “Ofcourse not.”

“Okay, good.”Hesighed and relaxed.

“Ifound some beautiful blues that match my dragon scales becauseIlove the idea of dressing you in my colors.”Iflashed the screen toward him. “Andsome lovely greens that complement your beautiful eyes.”Iscrolled down the many, many things in the shopping cart. “Andsome new jeans to hug your sexy bubble butt.”

“Idon’t have a bubble butt.”

“Ofcourse, you do, and it is extremely biteable.”Isnapped my teeth at him.

Hischeeks darkened. “Isthat whyIhave a bruise on my bum today?EverytimeIsat down,Ifelt it.”

Igrinned at him. “Ibet you thought of me every time.”

“Ithink about you all the time anyway,” he muttered.

“Ithink about you all the time too.”Confessionslike that were difficult for my kitty cat, soIrewarded him with another kiss.Ididn’t pull away until his lips were swollen, and his breaths changed to soft panting bursts.Helooked wrecked, just the wayIliked him. “Doyou absolutely hate anythingIselected?”

“Huh?”Heblinked at me.Thenhe shook his head and dropped his gaze back to my phone. “Oh, you’re talking about the clothes?”
