Ifroze.Myhips twitched.Fuck.I’dbeen grinding againstAdrian.Basedon the bulgeIwas rubbing against, and the wayAdrian'shands had slipped down to cup my ass,Ididn't think the werewolf minded.Butthat was so embarrassing, especially sinceIhadn't realizedIwas doing it.Hesqueezed my ass one last time, then slapped it lightly.

"Comeon.Let'sget this over with."Adrianstepped back and winked at me as he reached down to adjust himself.Mygaze followed the movement.Itgot a little caught on the size of that bulge.Holymother of…HonesttoGod, my mouth started watering. "Wecan come back after and see if you are still interested in finishing what you started."

“Justto be clear, we’re talking about sex, right?You.Me.Naked.”Iwaggled my eyebrows.

“Yes,”Adriansaid with a wicked gleam in his eye.

Iwas absolutely, one hundred per cent on board with whateverAdrianwas thinking to put that look on his face.Asleepless night of naked fun withAdriansounded a lot better than a sleepless night of googling goblins and hellhounds on my phone.

Themechanic's place was down the road from the motel, so thankfully not too much of a walk to get back.Thesign on the front saidHayden'sin faded block letters.Theblue paint on the side of the building was chipping off to reveal green paint underneath and there was a small crack in the corner of the front window.Soit didn’t offer the best first impression, but when we entered the office area, the bell that jingled when the door opened was cheerful sounding.

Inthe corner of the waiting room was a gorgeous statue that was both captivating and completely out of place in the room.Thebronze piece was two feet tall and showed a wolf and raven wrapped around one another in an intimate embrace.Itwas beautiful.Eventhe bronze base it sat on, which had been sculpted to form a boulder, had incredible, lifelike detail.Whoeverthe artist was, they were massively talented.Thiswork should be in an art gallery, not a mechanic’s shop.

"Hello?"Adriancalled out.

Whenno one answered, he walked toward an interior door leading to the maintenance bay.Heshouted another hello into the large space.

Agrowl, followed by the loud clank of a tool being tossed to a concrete floor, greetedAdrian’sshout.Afigure emerged from behind one of the vehicles.Hisface scrunched up in a familiar snarl.Ohshit.Hereminded me of the guyBabettemet this morning out in the woods.Ibacked up toward the door, not taking my eyes off the advancing beast.Ireached behind my back for the door handle, but it collided with that misleadingly cheerful bell instead.

Aidengrowled and moved to intercept the stranger's path to me.Ifhe had been in his wolf form,Ibet his hackles would be lifted.Theguy stopped abruptly and crossed his arms.

"Idon't know who you think you are, but you can get lost."Theguy shooed us out with a wave of his hand.

"Jeremy?"Aidenasked, not looking away from the guy telling us to leave.

"He's…"Iswallowed. "Wolf.Like…"Shit.Words,Jeremy, use them. "Woods."

Aidenshot a questioning glance over his shoulder at me.Iwished he wouldn't do that.Heneeded to keep an eye on that guy.

Thestrange wolf lifted his head and sniffed the air.Thenhe sighed like he bore the weight of the world. "Youmust have met my brother."Herubbed his hands on a tattered and stained cloth he'd pulled from one of the pockets in his overalls.Hestared straight at me. "You'retalking about those wolves who live in a little shanty town by an old farmhouse, aren’t you?"

Inodded slowly.Myeyes stung from keeping them open so long, butIcouldn't let myself blink.Iknew how fast those creatures moved.IfIblinked,I’dbe vulnerable.

"Yeah.That'smy brother.Wearen't…"Hecleared his throat.

Hehadn't sprouted claws yet.Iprayed that was a good sign.

"We'renot pack,” the guy—Hayden, according to the embroidery on his overalls—continued. “Haven'tbeen for over a decade."

Hiswords didn’t mean much to me, but the news hadAdrianrelaxing.Istudied the man, wolf, whatever.Nowthat he’d stopped snarling, the resemblance to the weirdos in the woods wasn't as strong.Iswallowed tightly. "Soyou aren't working withBabette?"

"Who?"

"The…"Greenmonkey creature wasn't the right answer, but it was all that came to mind.Mybrain needed a reset after everything that had happened today.Itwasn’t working right at the moment.

"Goblin,"Adriansupplied. "Shegrabbed some boxes of stolen goods from those wolves so she could sell them.Wegot in the way and now she's pissed."

Haydenwhistled. "Youhave an angry goblin after you?"

Adrianlaughed. "Iknow, right?"

"Andyou recovered some boxes?"

"Yeah, the hellhound in town here has them now."

Haydenpulled his phone from one of his pockets and squinted at the screen. "Shit.Imissed his texts.”Hescrolled through his phone. “Yeah.Vansays they're from the inn.WeknewDotdidn’t tell us everything, but we couldn’t get her to talk."

“Someonelied to a hellhound?”Adrianasked.
