The two of them look at each other before the one I now know is Jbone says, “Yeah, but the boss said y’all were nothing but a bunch of pussies.”

Quick as a flash, Rio’s fist strikes, and Jbone would be doubled up if he could move. Instead, he’s shrieking like a woman while he tries to get away. The only problem with that is he can’t gain any traction on the floor since it’s about a foot away.

“Yeah, well, yourbosswas wrong, fucker,” Rio retorts.

“Speaking of, who the fuck is your boss?” BamBam asks. “Seems he thought it was a good idea to come intoourtown and start abducting people to sell them. This wasn’t an approved business venture, so we’re going to shut that shit down.”

Gash’s eyes grow wide at BamBam’s words. “B-b-but you can’t! He’s already got buyers!”

“Shut the fuck up, you imbecile,” Jbone yells.

“No, I think Gash needs to keep talking.” Rio’s voice is quiet yet menacing as he walks over to where Gash is dangling from the ceiling. “Go ahead, tell me more.”

“Don’t say a word! He’ll kill you,” Jbone warns.

“Do you really think you’re leaving here breathing?” I question, chuckling.

“You can’t kill us, you’re a doctor! Isn’t there some kind of oath you take?” Gash frantically asks.

“Never said it would be me dealing the fatal blow,” I reply, shrugging. “I’m here for moral support, although Iamgonna take my pound of flesh outta both of you for what you did to my ol’ lady.”

“Doc, your hands,” Mongrel says, his voice low as he leans toward me. “Let me because the community needs you to be able to use your hands.”

Fuck. He’s right. Then, a malicious smirk crosses my face as I quickly whirl and plant my foot against first Gash’s knee, crushing it, then Jbone’s. “There, now my hands are safe,” I say as I swipe them together. Meanwhile, both men have now pissedthemselves, the acrid scent of fear and ammonia causing my eyes to water.

Gopher nods at Rio who looks at Mongrel. I watch with pride in my eyes as my upcoming brother systematically beats the shit out of both men until they’re sobbing, bloody messes. When he steps back, he sneers at the two of them and says, “That’s for my bike and for trying to hurt one of our women.”

BamBam walks to them and asks, “Are y’all ready to tell us who your boss is and maybe where we can find him? We wanna have a little talk.”

Gash is stammering as blood pours from his face, but he finally manages to say, “D-d-devin D-d-donnelly, and he’s… he’s been staying in the next town over.”

“Where?” BamBam barks. “Hotel? House? A shack? Need a little more than that, you asshole. Give me what I want, and you won’t suffer any more than you already have.”

Looking at the two men, they’re definitely on their last legs, but at the same time, we need this information. Right now, I wish this was done and dusted so I could get back to Gretchen, but the club comes first, especially right now.

“Cabin back in the woods,” Jbone adds, finally giving in to the reality that his life as he knows it is over.

“Let’s go check into that and if y’all are correct, we’ll get you sorted out,” Rio advises.

As a unit, we leave them hanging in the barn. With the lights out, of course. Since the barn is actually a cinderblock building that had a barn exterior built around it, there’s no worry that anyonewill hear them, not that anyone on the Triple R would betray the club.

CHAPTER

TWELVE

Gretchen

I’m sitting with Issy and Livy in the common room talking when the men come back from doing whatever they were doing. Doc walks over to me, leans over and kisses me and says, “We’ve got church, sweetheart, but once we’re done, I wanna take you for a ride on my bike.”

“Sounds good to me,” I reply.

Part of me wishes we could just go back to bed, but I understand from Issy and Livy that these guys, at least, never put anyone on the back of their bike unless they’re an old lady. A thrill courses through me, knowing that he was definitely serious when he said he was mine and I was his and with us going on a ride, he’s solidifying my place as his ol’ lady within the club.

After he leaves, Issy looks at me with a huge grin on her face. “You’re going to love it, I promise,” she tells me. “But until he gets you one, I’ve got a spare leather jacket you can wear to protect your arms, as well as a helmet.”

“He might already have one for her,” Livy states.

“Eh, if he does, no big deal, but this way, she’ll be prepared. Now, about your treat room, I have a few ideas,” Issy says.
